About Association Of Religious Leaders Living With/or Personally Affected By HIV/AIDS In Nigeria (NINERELA+)
Association of Religious Leaders Living with/or Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NINERELA+). The Association is the Nigeria affiliate of the International Network of Religious Leaders Living with/or Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (INERELA+) which is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. NINERELA+ was officially inaugurated on the 14th of October 2005 and its affairs are being piloted by eight-man elected management board. It has functional chapters across the 36 states of Nigeria and FCT. The organization also has a functional National Secretariat which is headed by the National Coordinator and other supporting staff in Abuja.
We are Faith based Network of Infected and Affected Religious Leaders within Nigeria that are registered members as individuals or registered faith based organizations. NINERELA+ is a policy coordinating body of all NINERELA+ State Chapters and carries out activities in line with its mission statement and objectives. However, NINERELA+ is actively carrying out leadership activities for all its members in all the states of this country with emphasis on good governance. NINERELA+ expands its membership and empowers them by providing correct and quality information on HIV and AIDS treatment as well as Opportunistic infections treatment such as Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB) etc. It also provides correct and qualitative information on prevention, care and support services.
We are currently working in the areas of care and support, stigma reduction, and other prevention of new HIV infections using the SAVE model approach with funding from Christian Aid and technical / system support from Management Sciences for Health (Msh).
