The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) evolved from the "DisCo Roundtable,” an informal group of the electricity distribution company operators, which was established post-handover of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) successor Distribution Companies (DisCo), in the early part of 2014. Subsequently, the "DisCo Roundtable” was incorporated as ANED in January, 2015, with a membership of the eleven (11) PHCN successor DisCos in the country. In a nascent privatized Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), ANED seeks to represent and promote the interests of the sector, with a particular emphasis on the distribution component of the electricity value chain. In particular, ANED serves as the representative body for legislative, regulatory and governmental outreach, on behalf of the DisCos, promotes knowledge sharing and capacity building among the DisCos, engages in electricity consumer awareness building and sensitization and facilitates setting of industry standards in electricity distribution services. ANED believes that, with their membership, the DisCos are better positioned to play their role in NESI; are able to productively engage the other industry stakeholders; and are able to improve the quality and the value of their services to electricity consumers. Additionally, the DisCos’ membership of ANED ensures the promotion of better business practices that will, ultimately, increase productivity and commercial sustainability across the electricity value chain. We are proud to offer services to our members, as they seek to introduce private-sector driven efficiency into a hitherto moribund NESI, with the objective of ensuring that their customers ultimately enjoy uninterrupted 24/7 power supply and improved service delivery.
