    Volunteer Field Officer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Field Officer for our program in Borno, Yobe and Sokoto State, Nigeria. One focal per state and must be an indigene of the state. The successful candidate will supervise field monitors, lead engagement with relevant stakeholders, attend cluster meetings (WASH, Nutrition, Shelter), and oversee data collection and reporting. This position will work under remote supervision, reporting directly to the Program Coordinator based in Maiduguri. A stipend for this role will be discussed with the selected candidate.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervision of Field Monitors: Oversee daily activities of field monitors to ensure that field operations align with program objectives.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Take the lead in engaging with local authorities, RUWATSAN, and other relevant stakeholders to build and maintain partnerships.
    • Cluster Participation: Represent the program at WASH, Nutrition, and Shelter cluster meetings to coordinate activities with other partners.
    • Field Assessments: Conduct field assessments to gather insights and information on project needs and areas of improvement.
    • Data Collection and Reporting: Independently collect data using specified tools and methodologies, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
    • Office Maintenance: Manage office maintenance and ensure a productive work environment.
    • Communication and Coordination: Regularly report updates to the Program Coordinator in Maiduguri and ensure alignment with overall program goals.

    Requirements

    • Education: Relevant academic background, preferably in fields related to WASH, public health, social sciences, or development studies.
    • Experience: Prior experience in field supervision, stakeholder engagement, or humanitarian projects is preferred.
    • Skills:
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Excellent data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
      • Ability to work independently and remotely.
      • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with WASH, nutrition, or shelter sectors, and an understanding of rural water and sanitation structures.
