This role will involve taking some responsibility for security, health, and safety, organizing and supervising materials and people, marking out the site, making sure designs are applied correctly, and liaising with main and sub-contractors and the Project Manager.
The role also involves leveling and surveying a site, checking drawings and quantities, and ensuring the accuracy of calculations.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications;
Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials
Managing, monitoring, and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client/architect
Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce involved in the project
Liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers, and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor and the work of any subcontractors;
Planning the work and efficiently organizing the site to meet agreed deadlines
Overseeing quality control, health, and safety matters on-site
Preparing reports as required
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Requirements
B.Sc in Civil Construction or equivalent engineering education, training, and experience is required.
A postgraduate degree in construction management is an added advantage.
10 years related experience preferred
Certification: Registration as a Professional Engineer is highly desirable
MBA or similar business degree, diploma, or course is also desirable
Must be computer literate with sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
Determined work ethic and must be seen to be professional at all times (communication and presentation)
