This well-established Nigerian based out-sourced power generation company has a core business of providing reliable out-sourced power to industrial/commercial clients.
They provide a packaged service, which includes installing and commissioning the rental power plants and providing competent operation and maintenance staff and spares. Due to the modular nature of its plants, they can rapidly increase power plant capacity to accommodate their client’s growth requirements.
Their expanding fleet of power rental equipment, the current capacity of circa 100MW & the largest in Nigeria, enables the unrivalled ability to deliver power at very short notice.
Job Purpose
The technical management and development of expanding modular power operations, with responsibility for the management and leadership of the technical operations department and resources.
Position in the Organisation
This role reports to the company’s chief technical officer, and he/she can be based in Abuja &/or Lagos, Nigeria.
Knowledge & Experience required
- Power generation engineer with at least 15 years of experience.
- Strong electrical background to include all aspects of LV and HV switchgear, protection, and associated control systems. Hands-on fault finding and system diagnostics. (Experience with PLC/Microprocessor based control systems and instrumentation is an advantage).
- Good mechanical knowledge and experience, including but not limited to gas and diesel reciprocating engines. (Experience with gas turbines is an advantage).
- The desired engineer, based on prior experience, shall demonstrate an ability to participate in or supervise mechanical maintenances and major overhauls.
- A Cummins Power Generation background is preferred with extensive knowledge of generators and control systems such as the KTA50 diesel and QSV/QSK gas-fired generators and associated control systems. Recognised training and certification are an advantage.
- Hands-on engineer with a history of turnkey project installation and commissioning.
- The skills to manage power plants. Create and implement operation and maintenance procedures, safety procedures, recruitment and training of O&M staff.
- Experience in the design of greenfield power projects with the ability to produce power plant layout drawings, powerhouse design drawings and electrical schematic drawings. Site management during the construction and installation of the power project.
- Provide business development support in the form of technical presentations to potential customers.
- CHP experience will be a definite asset.
- Experience in the designing of solar power plants will be an advantage
- Computer literacy is a must, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.

Educational Qualification/Certification:
- Minimum of First Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Masters Degree and any other certifications shall be an added advantage
- Must be COREN registered and a member of the NSE
Salary Range – N600,000 – N1m per month per month
