    Registered/Retired Nurse(Hospital Matron)

    Job Description

    • Direct participation in surgical procedures;
    • Assistance in clinical research and record keeping as required by the organization
    • Assess patients condition before surgery
    • Control all equipment and material stock used in the Operating Theatre to ensure efficient and rational use of material resources
    • Keep the operating room sterilized
    • Position the patient on operating table
    • Pass medical instruments to the surgeons during operation
    • Monitor patient’s vital signs
    • Evaluate postoperative patients
    • Reviews charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure
    • Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards
    • Communicate with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
    • Manage sterilization of equipments
    • Assist the surgeon and anaesthetist during the operation, anticipating their needs in order to facilitate their job
    • Organize patient transportation from the Operating Theatre to the recovery room and carry-out and/or supervise all the postoperative activities.
    • Supervise and train the nurse aides and cleaners while following Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Contribute to monthly reports according to guidelines (statistical reports, etc.)

    Note:

    • The Registered Nurse shall be the head nurse, and provide direct and indirect care for assigned patients in various nursing units and per scheduled shift
    •  The Registered Nurse is primarily responsible for professional performance and safe patient care 
    •  The role encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients across the healthcare continuum involving families
    •  Managing patients with various medical cases
    • Perform patient assessment using appropriate, problem-focused, and age-specific assessment techniques
    • Analyze the assessment data, derive nursing interventions, set priorities according to patients’ needs, formulate a plan of care, implement and evaluate the outcome
    • Document all relevant data in the medical record according to hospital standards
    • Treat patients and families with care and respect while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
    •  Involve the patient, significant others, and health care providers in the plan of care when appropriate
    •  Collaborate with other disciplines through multidisciplinary meetings and care conferences to facilitate patient care and operations
    •  Initiate appropriate discharge plan 
    • Recognize subtle cues to anticipate potential problems
    •  Demonstrate required assessment and therapeutic skills 
    • Implement and monitor infection control measures 
    • Apply safety measures related to patient care 
    • Operate all unit-required equipment safely 
    • Ensure availability and maintenance of supplies and equipment needed for the unit and patient care
    •  Administer medications, monitor desirable and undesirable effects and intervene appropriately
    •  Ensure that patients are provided with appropriate nutrition
    • Strictly follow clinical guidelines and standard operating procedures set by the hospital management 
    • Provide emotional support and measures to alleviate fear and anxiety 
    • Assess patient and family readiness and identifying learning needs.
    • A compassionate, caring and patient nature. 
    • Pleasant personality, team player, with good interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in both written and spoken information

      Requirements

    • Must be a Christian, and possess godly Christian core values
    • Must possess a diploma or degree In Nursing/midwifery with valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
    •  Must be retired, and possess at least 10 years post qualification experience in a multi-bed hospital 
    •  Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Must reside in New haven, G.R.A, Independence Layout/New Layout, Ogui Road, Trans-Ekulu, or Achara Layout axis.Job Title:
