Quantity surveyor at Focal Point Construction

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
• Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
• Prepare and analyse costings for tenders.
• Allocate work to subcontractors.
• Value completed work and arrange payments.
• Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
• The expected candidateshould be experienced and knowledgeable with the practice of building projects and civil works (knowledge as additional advantage)
• He or she should be able to prepare financial bids, project budgets as well as materials and labour schedules

Duties

• Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
• Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
• Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
• Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
• Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
• Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
• Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders

Qualifications and Experiences

Candidates must possess

• A good Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Survey from a recognized University and a registered Quantity Surveyor with at least 3 - 6 years experience:
• A Registered memberof the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors:
• Must be proficient in Computer usage
• Candidates must have worked as QS for a construction company
• Construction estimating or finance experienced is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Sound knowledge of construction.
• Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize, plan, and strategize
• Great networking abilities.
