News Editor and Website Publisher at Trivane News

Trivane News is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented News Editor & Website Publisher to join our growing newsroom as we prepare for the official launch of TrivaneNews.com. This is a full-time, remote role focused on news editing and website publishing.

This role does not include video production, video editing, news presentation or day-to-day social media management. These are handled separately by Trivane’s existing video and social media team.

The Role

• Edit and proofread news stories for accuracy, clarity, grammar and readability
• Write or refine clear, accurate headlines where necessary
• Check key facts, names, dates, figures and source attribution, and flag unsupported or potentially misleading claims before publication
• Create clean, on-brand news graphics and featured images where required
• Format, categorise and publish approved stories on the Trivane News website
• Respond promptly to breaking news and meet publishing deadlines
• Correct publishing errors promptly and maintain Trivane News’ editorial and visual standards

Requirements

• Strong written English and good editing and proofreading skills
• Good news judgement and strong attention to detail
• Ability to verify information using credible sources and recognise when further checks are required
• Familiarity with website/CMS publishing, or the ability to learn quickly
• Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar tools
• Good understanding of African, UK and diaspora news audiences
• Ability to work independently, follow editorial guidance and meet deadlines.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Strong applications from less experienced candidates will be considered where their work demonstrates the required skills and judgement.
• A background in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media or a related field is an advantage, but practical ability and the quality of submitted work will also be considered.

Salary

₦150,000 per month. Performance will be reviewed after the first three months. Any incentives will be subject to work output and organisational requirements.
