    Maintenance Officer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Maintenance Officer to join our organisation in Benin City, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of facility maintenance to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained working environment.

    • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programmes for all building systems and equipment
    • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards
    • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair work, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
    • Manage and prioritize maintenance requests from staff and students 
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and expenses
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and building codes
    • Collaborate with external contractors and service providers when necessary
    • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, optimizing costs without compromising quality
    • Participate in long-term planning for facility improvements and upgrades

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related role
    • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office suite
    • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
    • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance issues
    • Strong organisational and time management skills
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
    • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and preventive maintenance practices
    • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Benin City, Nigeria is advantageous
