    Maintenance Lead - Mechanical

    Role Positioning and Objectives

    • The Maintenance Lead is the PM systems owner for their line(s).
    • They are ultimately responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses at the lowest cost.
    • The Maintenance Lead is responsible for building capability in Operating Teams and Equipment Owners to deliver overall line results supporting the Compelling Business Needs.

    What You Will Be Accountable For
    Role model leadership, inclusion, and 5E’s:

    Actively participate in Line Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings, Weekly Daily Direction Setting, BDE/DH/MP&S meetings and other relevant IWS meetings. Execution of the daily plan, including reporting on the following results the previous 24 hours:

    • MP&S in-process measure (ex. # PM’s executed, # PM’s created/modified)
    • BDE, Number of Breakdowns, insights from completed PM card(s) / maintenance logs
    • Execute weekly Health Checks, identifying gaps in system, and implementing appropriate countermeasures
    • Participate in project delivery and execution
    • Familiarize oneself and complies with all applicable and relevant business processes, procedure and policies.

    Plan & Schedule Maintenance Work:

    • Own Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (MP&S) DMS for the line(s)
    • Review and prioritize notifications within 24 hours of generation
    • Provide updates during DDS on any PM’s being conducted next 24 hours and propose PM tasks to be completed during Planned Stop as appropriate
    • The work order backlog is current, sorted for reporting and is managed to best meet the business needs
    • Lead the scheduling of maintenance work for the next week during the Weekly Planning Meeting
    • Lead the scheduling next month’s maintenance work as dictated by the annual maintenance plan and previously identified work during the monthly meeting
    • Ensure the revision and updating of “Maintenance Technical Documentation” occurs as necessary
    • Develop and update annual maintenance plan.

    Develop Improvement Plans:

    • Support development and lead portions of Line 90-Day loss-elimination plans
    • Own the Breakdown Elimination DMS
    • Drive breakthrough results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime

    Work Schedule:

    • Shift rotation with off-shift and weekend support subject to prevalent shift pattern and as dictated by business requirements; this could include call-in support in extreme cases.
    • Travel less than 5%.

    Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

    • An academic qualification in City & Guilds (Engineering / Manufacturing / Transport Maintenance), NABTEB (Technical Trade), or National Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics) from a recognised institution
    • The role holder will require an expert knowledge of cigarette making or packing machinery with at least 8 years of “hands on” experience of running these machines in a production environment, thereby gaining technical mastery of equipment and can develop it in others
    • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
    • A strong working knowledge of technical training, fault finding, troubleshooting techniques on both Making and Packing machines will be essential to the success of the role. Overall strong technical skills.
    • Knows how to benchmark with colleagues and influence people to deliver on common goals
    • In addition, a good understanding of mechanical processes, both hands on and theory will be required.
    • Understanding of storeroom operating strategies.
    • Ability to develop and effectively coach/train Equipment Owners and other technicians.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills desired.
