    Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs Officer

    Key Responsibilities:

    Legal and Compliance:

    • Legal Advice: Provide legal guidance to the business on a range of matters, including contracts, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
    • Compliance Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across the business.
    • Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners.

    Public Affairs and Government Relations:

    • Government Relations: Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry associations.
    • Public Policy: Monitor and analyze public policy developments that impact the business.
    • Reputation Management: Develop and implement strategies to maintain and enhance the company's reputation.
    • Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis management plans to respond to reputational threats.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that employees understand their legal and compliance obligations.
    • Audit and Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and compliance monitoring to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on legal, compliance, and public affairs matters.

    Requirements:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent.
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal, compliance, and public affairs role, preferably in a similar industry.

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the industry.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
    • Certifications: Professional certifications, such as CCEP (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional) or CCO (Certified Compliance Officer), are an added advantage.
