    Finance & Admin Officer

    Job Summary

    The Finance and Admin Officer will be responsible for day-to-day financial as well as administrative related concerns on the project within the state. The incumbent will work closely with the Account Advisor in ensuring activity expenditures are allowable, allocable and reasonable and financial reporting is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Tasked to keep accurate records of all the funds accruing to the C.B.O. Prepare the financial budgets of the organization.
    • Keep accurate records of all funds expended in line with CBO's financial policy.
    • Prepare monthly Statements of Account of the organization as shall be directed by the Executive Committee and shall prepare Annual Statement of Account as at 31st December of every year.
    • Be in custody of the organization’s cheque book and to produce same on demand by the Executive Committee. Serve as the Chairman of the procurement committee.
    • Keep accurate records of funds provided through agreements with agencies for implementing projects as defined by CBO s financial policy.
    • Receiving disbursement and reporting of the organization's funds as defined by CBO s financial policy manual.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor degree/HND in Accounting, Finance or closely related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting related to NGOs and community based programs.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Independent judgment and discretion in completing assignments, seeking approval as appropriate.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Familiarity with USAID-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to be able to accept and discharge substantial responsibilities, to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise professional judgment.

    • Time Management - Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and complete projects in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.
    • Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

    Language Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Local Language preferred.
    • Demonstrated competency in public speaking.

    Computer Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems.
    • Other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance.

    Work Environment:

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • The employee will be required to co-locate with state office usually in the same office.
