    • Our Legal Team takes responsibility for developing and safeguarding our company's global legal strategy. We provide day-to-day support on various legal and compliance topics. We partner with the business to ensure the interests of the company and our employees’ are protected

    Make a Difference in our Business:

    • The Ethics and Compliance Director has overall responsibility for the legal compliance function across the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region, with a view to ensuring that Baker Hughes consistently operates under appropriate written policies and procedures that promote compliance with applicable anti-corruption laws and regulations and prevents and detects of violations thereof.
    • In this role you will proactively support the achievement of the Company’s business goals within the context of an unwavering compliance culture.
    • You will report to the Executive General Counsel of SSA and have responsibility for all countries of Baker Hughes' operations in the Region which includes Angola, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa.

    As Ethics and Compliance Director, you will be responsible for:

    • Promoting the legal compliance and corporate ethical culture in the Region and in particular, ensuring compliance with the Baker Hughes Code of Conduct, legal compliance policies and procedures and applicable local and international laws and regulations including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act
    • Promoting, implementing and/or modifying Baker Hughes Ethics and Legal Compliance Program within SSA to minimize and mitigate compliance risk and propose any modifications as may be required to keep the Program current with local and international laws and best practices
    • Being the first point of contact with respect to all ethics and legal compliance issues arising in the Region
    • Providing specialist Legal Compliance guidance and approvals in all areas of the company’s operations and activities, seeking the Associate General Counsel and/or Global Compliance Leader input as required
    • Monitoring compliance risk and ensuring that the Associate General Counsel of SSA, Global Compliance Leader and Chief Compliance Officer are immediately aware of significant ethics and legal compliance issues that may arise in the Region
    • Coordinating closely with Region Leadership and providing legal compliance advice as required to corporate functions including but not limited to HR, Marketing and Business Development, Trade Compliance and Logistics
    • Advising Operations and Legal/Compliance Counsel on compliance matters that potentially affect Baker Hughes’ position in investigations, litigation, transactional and other legal matters
    • Leading, participating in and/or supporting ethics and legal compliance related investigations that arise in the Region and monitoring the timely closing of matters. Leading the oversight of/implementing any remedial actions arising out of investigations
    • Leading and/or participating in the regular development and implementation of compliance risk assessments and the continuous gap analysis protocol for the Region
    • Overseeing plans and participating in ethics and compliance educational and awareness efforts in the Region
    • Managing, reviewing, and/or approving the engagement of Third Parties under Baker Hughes’s policies
    • Providing ethics and legal compliance due diligence support for any acquisitions and divestitures
    • Facilitating open reporting by employees by promoting an open environment and communicating all reporting channels.

    Requirements
    To be successful in this role you will:

    • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline - A Legal Degree will be advantageous
    • Have a minimum of 8 years relevant Legal Compliance experience
    • Have significant experience with the UK Bribery Act, FCPA, and/or other anti-corruption laws and regulations
    • Have excellent verbal and written fluency in English.
