    Communications and Social Media Intern

    Job Summary

    The Communications intern will work to create a positive and engaging experience for CARE’s supporters and followers on all social media channels (Facebook /Instagram/Twitter/TikTok/LinkedIn/YouTube, etc.). The position will help drive thoughtful conversation among CARE social media audiences, coordinating the day-to-day posting of all content, responding to and/or escalating complaints. Through clear and timely communication, this position will help grow and engage CARE’s social media fans and followers to build loyalty and ensure a quality supporter experience. This position will also coordinate CARE’s social media analytics function, providing ongoing reporting on social marketing metrics and related deliverables to inform a responsive strategic approach for all the Country Office social media channels. The job holder will collaborate with CARE Nigeria’s fundraising and advocacy teams to ensure CARE is meeting its audience engagement and growth goals. The individual will monitor social trends, builds online connections for CARE, and is passionate about CARE's mission of saving lives, defeating poverty, and achieving social justice.

    Job Responsibility #1: Content Development and updating on all of CARE’s Social Media Platforms    

    • Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals.
    • Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (e.g., original text, photos, videos, and news).
    • Communicate with followers, respond to queries promptly and monitor customer reviews.
    • Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g., Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures, and blog layout).
    • Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competitions.
    • Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications.

    Job Responsibility #2: Communication and Advocacy                              

    • Support communication team with updating factsheets
    • Draft briefs and reviewing of project/program documents
    • Support program teams to organize learning webinars
    • Identify innovative lessons and facilitate linkages to regional and global platforms for country teams to share and learn from best practices

    Resource Mobilization          

    • Contribute to CARE’s resource mobilization efforts by supporting the development of marketing and brand communication material. 
    • Development of project briefs and one-pagers to support donor engagement

    Requirements

    Required

    • At least Bachelor’s in relevant discipline (Mass comm, Communication, Marketing and Advertising).
    • Successful track record with managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Digital Ad based, Web).
    • Familiarity with web design.
    • We are establishing brand awareness.
    • Strong and consistent communication skills.
    • Creativity to Think outside the box.
    • Knowledge of social media management tools.
    • Understanding of analytics and reporting.
    • Demonstrated partnership and relationship-building skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to package communication material for different audiences.
    • Ability to deliver creative strategic content, texts, images, and videos.
    • Strong writing skills - copywriting and editing skills suitable for each platform, from knowing how to write a successful tweet to using effective storytelling techniques.

    Desired

    • 1-2 years experience working with a non-profit organization 
    • Knowledge and understanding of Hausa Language would be an advantage.  
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent multi-tasking skills
    • Team player
    • Great interpersonal and communication skills
