Bulldozer Operator at Proportion Construction and Dredge Works Nigeria Limited

Job Brief

• We are in need of a Bulldozer operator, who prepares land for constructing roads and buildings. Operates a specially equipped tractor to gouge out, level, and distribute earth.
• Being a Dozer Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 3-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Bulldozer Operators operate bulldozers using blades and other attachments to gouge out, level and move materials in construction, forestry, mining and other projects.

Responsibilities

• Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads buildings or planting crops, or in mining, quarrying, and lumbering operations.
• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Mass/finish grading
• Maintain site drainage
• Control lifts
• Coordinate material placement for residential and commercial development
• Understanding of reading blueprints
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment
• Assist in any other tasks determined by crew leader
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feels lever listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
• Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on tractor, using grease gun, oilcans, and handtools.
• When required to work to close tolerances, may be designated Fine-Grade-Bulldozer Operator .
• When operating bulldozer to loosen soil, may be designated Scarifier Operator .
• May be designated according to type of tractor operated as Crawler-Tractor Operator ; Forest Fire Equipment Operator government ser. ; or attachment added as Angledozer Operator.
• May operate bulldozer to scrape surface clay to define existence and types of clay deposits or to gather clay into piles preparatory to removal to brick-and-tile manufacturing plant and be designated Scraper Operator mine quarry.

Requirements

• Must have 3 - 7 years of experience
• Qualification: Professional Trainings
• Must have a positive attitude and work well with others
• Must be able to proficiently operate both finish and bulk bull dozers
• Must be able to carry grade and maintain smooth grade transitions
• Must have experience constructing single family subdivision projects
• GPS experience is preferred but not required
• Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of survey and grade stake and understand cut and fill operations constructing building pads and streets
• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
