    About ANDE
    The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propels entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty. Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises almost 275 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries. The ANDE team is headquartered in Washington, DC, but has eight regional offices that span Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia.
    ANDE West Africa is hiring an Intern, based in Lagos, Nigeria.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Day to day work involves supporting ANDE West Chapter team with research, project implementation, administrative, communications (social media, chapter update and newsletter), database, and event projects.
    • Running event logistics (virtual and in-person) including setting up the event page, recommending appropriate venues, webinar support on Zoom, event promotion, note taking, registering attendees, and updating campaigns.
    • Updating information in our local chapter database, communicating with members to confirm data, knowledge sharing of research reports to our members and supporting all staff with a variety of administrative needs.
    • Writing and proofreading blog posts, reviewing and compiling newsletters and chapter updates.
    • Assisting with social media posting on LinkedIn and Twitter.
    • Researching potential member opportunities, staying up to date on various topic areas of interest to ANDE members, i.e. gender equity, environmental action, job creation, etc.

    Who are we looking for?

    • The ideal candidate for this role is a person that can work well independently and as part of a team, resourceful, proactive, experience working with other cultures, excellent interpersonal skills, has a strong ability to help others be organized and efficient.
    • The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following:
    • A recent graduate or graduate student wanting to learn about entrepreneurship in emerging markets
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal).
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and remotely on certain occasions.
    • Adaptable – able to support multiple ongoing projects and pivot to new tasks quickly
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.
    • Experience in Social media management, and cloud-based email/marketing platform (preferable).
    • Experience in research and data collection (preferable)
    • Graphic design skills (preferable)

    Details about the role

    • Timing is from March 2021 to December 2021
    • The intern will use his or her own laptop
    • 40 hours a week (Monday to Friday)
    • Candidate must be based in Lagos, Nigeria.
    • This is a paid position. The gross salary is fixed at 120,000 NGN.
