    Drugs Logistics Officer

    Location: Otukpo, Benue State, Nigeria

    Contract duration: 1 year, with a possibility of renewal

    Job summary

    The Drugs Logistics Officer will provide professional support services in the management of procurement, storage, distribution of commodities within the project using carefully tailored guidelines and in line with standard practice. They will be responsible for the monitoring and supervision of clinics in the priority local government areas in Benue State as it pertains to drugs supply and management. Essentially, they shall be responsible for strengthening the CCMHP’s Drugs Revolving Funds scheme, while applying results-based approaches for the management and use of essential psychotropic medicines at all levels.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    The person should possess

    • Pharmacy Technician certificate from an accredited School of Health Technology and registration with Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. A candidate with Bachelor’s Degree in the Natural or Biological Sciences can also apply.
    • Minimum of 1-year work experience with progressive responsibility in pharmaceutical and/or supply chain management.
    • Previous experience working with donor-funded programs will be an advantage.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
    • Excellent training and facilitation skills.
    • Strong computer skills- Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
    • Strong report writing skills will be an added advantage.
    • Experience in partner capacity strengthening preferred.
    • Proven ability to work remotely as part of a team and to work independently.
    • Cultural sensitivity, patience and flexibility.
    • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

    Responsibilities

    The person will be responsible for the following.

    • Provide assistance and strengthen the capacity of government health personnel and other key community mental health program stakeholders as appropriate, in the management of drugs supply, distribution and management in Benue State.
    • Support and assist in the management of psychotropic medicines in the Central Medical Store and CCMHP’s supported health facilities.
    • Supervise & take delivery of psychotropic medicines into the Central Medical Store and ensure that all goods including their packaging are in acceptable condition in line with set standards.
    • Write routine and periodic reports for submission to program funders.
    • Contribute to the development & update of a management information system (MIS) for drugs logistics and provide regular feedback to the Project Coordinator and programme partners.
    • Conduct depot drug inventory management, forecasting & quantification of the organization’s products.
    • Ensure zero tolerance for stock-out and/or overstock by adhering to simple principle ‘month of stock’ calculation.

    Selection Process:

    • It is essential that the candidate meets the required qualifications above in the application.
