    Social and Behavioural Change Communication and Nutrition Coordinator

    Role Purpose

    • The SBCC and Nutrition Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of COP/DCOP in the successful implementation of the Project at the State level
    • Overall, the SBCC and Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of nutrition related interventions and to liaise with the relevant Government counterparts at the State level.

    Key Areas of Accountability

    • Supported by the SNA, develop the SBCC strategy that feed into the projects’ objectives.
    • Responsible for planning of SBCC and nutrition interventions, this will be done in the form of annual, monthly and/or weekly work plans as requested.
    • Ensure the day-to-day implementation of the SBCC/nutrition work plan activities in the State.
    • Responsible for preparation, planning and facilitation of SBBC and nutrition related trainings and other activities such as World Breastfeeding week as agreed in the annual work-plan.
    • Responsible for the accomplishment of the project’s deliverables on SBCC and nutrition.
    • Develop timely, quality State level reports on activities, project results, case studies and lessons learned for SBCC and nutrition interventions within the project.
    • Support the preparation, coordination, and execution for special technical events, and donor’s visits.
    • Participate in meetings, seminars, debriefings and other technical meetings.
    • Participate in the design and implementation of assessments and evaluation studies, trainings, and workshops.
    • Support the work of consultants in the States as needs arise with technical and programmatic guidance from the COP and SNA.
    • Liaise with the SNA to provide support on technical initiatives, including performing literature searches, investigating key issues, and contributing to technical activities as required.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with the other projects in the State, namely those implementing nutrition interventions. This synergy should include, regular consultation on matters such as but not limited to work-planning, review meetings and joint supportive supervision visits.
    • Maintain good relationship with Government and non-Government partners working on Nutrition in the State.
    • Represent SCI and/or the project in State level meetings such as SCFN, working groups, etc.
    • With support from the COP and/or other senior programme staff, assist on nutrition related advocacy activities that target decision-makers in the State.
    • Contribute to communications and media work as required.
    • Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child protection policies, comply strictly with security procedures and other staff policies.

    Qualifications & Experience
    Essential:

    • B.Sc/BA/B.Eng Degree in Public Health Nutrition, or a related subject, or equivalent field experience;
    • At least 3 years’ experience on implementing SBCC and Nutrition projects within agreed timescales and budget limitations;
    • Previous experience working with iNGOs;
    • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability in a Nutrition context;
    • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation;
    • Experience of training and capacity building on nutrition;
    • Experience on working in collaboration with Government counterpart;
    • Some experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums;
    • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • A high level of written and spoken English and fluency in local language;
    • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy;
    • Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
