    Main Purpose

    • The main purpose of the Legal Counsel role (reporting to the firm’s General Counsel) is to provide legal advice to the firm, consider, advise on and resolve complex legal and regulatory matters, review and negotiate various agreements and documents, consider complex legal issues and provide general legal support to the lines of service and perform related risk and quality roles.

    Job Description

    • Reports to the General Counsel;
    • Provide strategic and practical legal advice to PwC and its lines of service, including Internal Firm Services in relation to various legal and regulatory matters;
    • Review and negotiate a variety of contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, letters of engagement, supplier agreements;
    • Conduct legal research and opinion writing;
    • Provide support on special projects
    • Risk management assistance to technical and risk and quality teams;
    • Assist in preparation of various documents & provide assistance in managing legal claims & interaction with external legal providers

    Qualifications

    • Relevant professional qualification
    • 2-4 post-call experience with a reputable law firm or as part of the legal services team in a reputation organisation
    • Display sound leadership skills
    • Computer literate with all PwC’s software
    • The ability to think critically and solve complex problems efficiently and practically.
    • Self-motivated and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with staff at various levels and with partners across Africa.
    • Strong interpersonal and management skills
    • Ability to multi task and prioritise
    • Analytical and solution driven
    • Pro-active and committed to delivery
    • Excellent time management skills
