     About the Project
    Search for Common Ground is implementing the Constructing Coalitions to Reduce Human Rights Abuses in Northern Nigeria project to meet the critical capacity needs of local human rights actors and structures and establish much needed forums to rebuild the torn divisions between communities and security actors to support effective locally-led and owned accountability structures.

    Constructing Coalitions to Reduce Human Rights Abuses in Northern Nigeria aims to build a constituency of human rights coalitions that can accompany and support Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in order to reduce the prevalence of human rights abuses within the targeted states.

    We are searching for…
    We are currently seeking for a Project Officer to provide programmatic support, including planning, organizing, and coordinating communication and project activities. The position is full time, based in Maiduguri - Borno State and another in Yola – Adamawa State with frequent field visits to target LGAs within the State (up to 30%).

    S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator and closely with the project team.

    Your contribution - Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the timely and successful implementation of activities
    • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities
    • Manage budget activities and ensure proper use of the activities’ fund in full compliance of Search’s policies
    • Coordinate and arrange all logistics for various meetings, and trainings, including invitations, venue, participants travel and accommodation;
    • Facilitate dialogue sessions and meetings with relevant Human Rights actors
    • Participate to radio programs when delegated
    • Create and nurture positive working relationship with Human Rights relevant stakeholders
    • Provide support to the Senior Project Coordinator in identifying key Civil Society Organizations and stakeholders;
    • Develop and nurture relations with relevant state, NGO, religious bodies and other stakeholders at the local, state and national level;
    • Create and maintain a database of all relevant contacts
    • Communicate with relevant project stakeholders and mobilize them to ensure their participation to the project’s activities
    • Represent Search to local authorities meetings, when delegated

    Contribute to reporting efforts

    • Keep track of project progress and feed in Search’s monitoring and evaluation system;
    • Writing and producing reports that include but not limited to activity reports, context updates, monthly reports, quarterly reports, success stories, and case studies;
    • Analyze the context within the scope of the project and provide inputs for regular context updates;
    • Any other duties assigned by the line manager.

    You are….

    Competencies

    • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, human rights, law, conflict analysis, social studies or a related field;
    • At least three (3) years of relevant practical experience working on Human Rights
    • related issues;
    • At least two years’ experience working with a non-profit as a project assistant, preferably in a international NGO;
    • Excellent knowledge of Borno/Adamawa State, with a recent living experience
    • Fluency in written and spoken English and Hausa.
    • Strong IT skills (Email, Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets, Presentation).
    • Good reporting capacity and experience
