    Professional Data Entry Clerk

    Job description:

    As a data entry clerk you would insert, update, maintain and retrieve information on the website. You would also transfer information that is on paper to computer files. So if you enjoy working with computers and can type quickly this job could be ideal for you. To be a data entry clerk, you will need to have good mathematics and English skills. You’ll be able to work quickly and accurately, and pay attention to detail. You will also probably need a basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and light HTML.

    Entry Requirement:

    You do not always need BSc or MSc qualifications to work as a data entry clerk, although WASSCE may be required based on your assessment. You will need a basic knowledge of general computer knowledge, word processing, spreadsheets and or HTML. At interview, you would normally be tested for keyboard skills and accuracy in entering data. You would be provided with training on the data entry systems when you start work.

    Skills, interests and qualities:

    • To become a data entry clerk, you will need to have:
    • Good computer skills
    • The ability to work in a busy environment
    • Good maths and English skills
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • An understanding of data confidentiality issues
    • The ability to work quickly and accurately, and pay attention to detail
    • Awareness of health and safety issues.
    • Obtain further information for incomplete documents
    • Update data and delete unnecessary files
    • Combine and rearrange data from source documents where required
    • Check completed work for accuracy
    • Comply with data integrity and security policies

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma, OND, or WASSCE
    • Formal computer training an advantage
    • Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office
    • Accurate keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data at the required speed
    • Knowledge of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
    • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures
