    Lead Production Technician

    For one of our clients, an international oil & gas operating company, we are currently seeking a Lead Production Technician to work offshore Nigeria on a rotational basis.

    Job objectives:

    • To coordinate and supervise operations and maintenance activities offshore. 
    • To manage and control the operations team to ensure safe and efficient functioning of all process facilities and operations. 
    • To complete all other assignments as may be assigned by the Production Supervisor.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Assist production supervisor to ensure safe and efficient functioning of all process facilities and operations
    • Responsible for operation, condition monitoring and troubleshooting of process plant, CCR, relevant utility systems and equipment. Knowledge of ICSS / SCADA / DCS is an advantage
    • Responsible for operation of safety control systems
    • Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting of turret/ swivel equipment
    • Responsible for process plant and equipment start-up and shut down operations
    • Responsible for meeting of production objectives
    • Responsible for optimization of chemicals consumption
    • Responsible for planning of operations maintenance activities
    • Responsible for first line and preventive maintenance of process and relevant utility systems as per Computerised Maintenance Management System
    • Administer process plant and relevant utility systems modifications requests under management of change (MOC) procedure
    • Responsible for maintaining process plant discharges and emissions within the limits
    • Ensure regulatory and class requirements are adhered to 
    • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning
    • Prepare budget and control expenditure
    • Responsible for sufficient stock of relevant consumables
    • Responsible for control of hazardous substances that are used/ stored within production department
    • Participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents
    • Ensure the Permit To Work system is controlled and adhered to as per requirements of the system
    • Responsible for the relevant risk assessments and job safety analyses
    • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Review information in database to ensure it is technically valid, accurate and up to date
    • Maintain appropriate documentation;
    • Ensure that vendors and contractors are managed safely and effectively
    • Undertake training relevant to the position requirements
    • Responsible for the training of subordinates and trainees
    • Responsible for competency assessment and performance evaluation of subordinates

     

    Requirements

    • HND or Degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering 
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in oil and gas operations and maintenance, at least 5 years of offshore oil and gas experience on production platforms at supervisory level.
    • Multi-skills and knowledge of ICSS / SCADA / DCS is a prerequisite
    • A good understanding of the relevant codes and standards for production operations is a prerequisite.
    • Fluent spoken and written English
    • Strong interpersonal skills are essential, for dealing with a broad spectrum of cultural and organisational styles, as well as being able to fit in as a team player
    • Fit and fully mobile, so as to maintain the supervision at the various locations where activities related to the work will be carried out
    • Proven experience of supervising and coordinating the activities of a multi-discipline operations team
    • Good computer and use of computerized maintenance management skills
    • Good communication and team building skills at all levels – able to lead and gain the respect of contractor and 3rd parties.
    • Must be resourceful with the ability to improvise / prioritise when confronted with obstacles without losing focus and attention to detail.
    • Must be able to exercise relevant operation and maintenance judgement ensuring success of the assigned projects.
    • Proven track record in managing multicultural teams
