Background and Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
• Coordinate all seed production activities in the USIAD-funded Seed Scaling Project:
• Carry out purification activities and varietal maintenance of improved/released rice varieties in Nigeria:
• Multiply breeder and foundation seed of improved rice varieties for private sectors including private seed companies and universities;
• Prepare and develop training and extension materials on seed production and handling for technicians, seed out growers and farmers;
• Facilitate timely packaging, delivery and marketing of improved seeds to consortium of seed companies;
• Undertake any other professional duties as needs arise within AfricaRice.
Qualification and Experience
M.Sc. in Seed Technology/Plant Breeding, Agronomy and any related field with adequate experience in rice breeding and foundation seed production and demonstrated skills in seed purification and storage.
