    Project Manager - Vocational Training & Youth Employability Program

    ORIGINS OF THE PROJECT

    Seeds of Hope project places companies at the heart of its approach: they are involved in the development of the program to adjust the training to their real needs. In addition, partnerships are built with local companies to promote the placement of students. Today, the program is ongoing in Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria.

    In Nigeria, Seeds of Hope project is run in partnership with 3 international companies: Schneider Electric, CFAO and Cummins. The project currently consists in the launch of training programs in the electrical field with existing training centers or NGOs. This involves the development of partnerships with various organizations and the provision of technical assistance to education partners. Nigeria holds great potential for the development of training and access to employment initiatives, which entails opportunities for a rapid expansion of the project.

    To coordinate the different activities and extend IECD presence in Nigeria, IECD looking for a Project Manager.

    MISSION

    The project manager will be in charge of the general project management, will supervise the project team and in charge of the relations with the partners and all stakeholders involved.

    His/her main tasks will consist in:

    1/ General Project Management

    • Operational monitoring and coaching of the local partners
    • Budget forecast and follow-up
    • Internal and external reporting
    • Monitoring and development of training activities:

    o Curriculum assessment guidelines, Guidance and Employment procedures, etc.;

    o E-learning programme development;

    o Development of new training modules in renewable energy.

    • Organize and facilitate quarterly Steering Committee gathering all partners involved
    • Ensure proper Project communication (develop tools, run campaigns…)
    • Implement tools to evaluate the impact of the project
    • Manage IECD team in Nigeria

    2/ Provide Technical Assistance to the Education Partners to run the different activities of the project

    • Identify the needs of the job market
    • Update curricula
    • Train the trainers
    • Provide equipment
    • Organize student recruitment and guidance
    • Facilitate access to employment
    • Follow up trainings and control quality

    3/ Management of the Partnerships with the different stakeholders of the project

    • Education Partners : Institute for Industrial Technology and other partners to be confirmed
    • Industrial Partners : Schneider Electric, Cummins, CFAO and other upcoming partners
    • Public institutions

    4/ Development of New Partnerships

    • Identify the needs and the expectations of the Industry
    • Build ties with companies, local experts and relevant institutions
    • Identify additional (public)schools/education sites that could be included in the project
    • Identify new donors willing to support the project (fund raising)
    • Institutional representation of IECD in Nigeria

    EXPECTED PROFIL

    Education:Master in Business Administration, Engineer or Master in Cooperation.

    Experience:At least 5 years of work experience. Technical background strongly appreciated. Previous experience in Africa is recommended, in particular in Nigeria

    Interests:Strong interest in Technical Vocational Training

    Skills and qualities expected:

    • Proactive, entrepreneur
    • Good organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good representation with public and private partners
    • Teamwork and interest for knowledge transfer
    • Fluency in English. Knowledge of French is an advantage

    CONDITIONS

    Statut : Contract of voluntary service of international solidarity - including training session in Paris before departure

    Localisation :Lagos – travels to plan : Abuja, Port Harcourt and in others countries where the program is expanding (Lebanon, Egypt, and Morocco)

    Under the supervision of :

    • Head of Unit, Education, TVET and Youth employability, based in Paris
    • Close collaboration with Seeds of Hope’s team based at Paris, and others Seeds of Hope’s projects, expanded in region MENA

    Start date: February / March 2015, for a transition with the current project manager; for 2 years (1 year extendible)

    Package :

    • To be defined according to profile and experience
    • Accommodation in the city center
    • Company car
    • 2 Return plane tickets every year (beginning and end of contract + 1 round trip every six months with several days of work at the head office
    • Complete medical and social pack (state health cover, repatriation, complementary health insurance) and French supplementary pension contribution.
