Description:

• The Senior Mud logger with his team collects and monitors information that include drilling data, analyse gas and rock samples from drilling operations using a range of equipment and laboratory techniques which may include binocular microscopes, ultraviolet fluorescence for thin section analysis and Gas Chromatographs for real time analysis to better understand the geology and reservoir characteristics during drilling operations
• Working in well site Mud Logging units, collecting, processing, logging and analysing geological rock samples;
• Using a computer interprets and analyses information and shares this with the drilling team as per agreed routine;
• Carries out on site maintenance as required;
• Prepares written reports as required by the Customer;
• Adheres to and promotes all Health and Safety policies and procedures;
• Evaluates detailed and complex data for signs of oil or gas using various laboratory techniques;
• Monitors computer recordings of drillings;
• interpreting information and feeding this back to the drilling team to enhance safety and success;
• operating and maintaining a real-time computer-based data acquisition system, which records all aspects of rig activity;
• Taking on the primary health and safety role for the well through constant monitoring of all critical drilling parameters;
• Predicting dangerous situations, such as over-pressured formations;
• Assisting the well site geologist during coring operations;
• Reporting back to the well site geologist and to the oil company in written reports.
