Farm Manager at Uzanu Farm

THE ROLE: As part of a development and organisation effort, Uzanu Farm, a developing palm plantation is seeking a farm manger to direct and coordinate all farm activities. As farm manager, you’ll work with farmers in crop and animal production. The livestock on the farm consists of Fish and Cattle, while the crops consists of Rice and Palm; Palm being the primary crop. You’ll implement strategies for maximum yield, organise farm administration, work machinery and manage any associated business and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Workload varies seasonally – some unsociable hours may be necessary during busy periods such as harvesting; you will be expected to deal with emergencies.

Other responsibilities are:

• Forward Planning
• Maintaining accurate financial, production, farm management practice, and operational records
• Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records
• Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
• Making sure that work progresses satisfactorily
• Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards
• Keeping an updated knowledge of pests and diseases
• Ensuring the farm is profitable and meets projected financial goals
• Organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

There are no qualifications required, though at least an HND in an agricultural related subject and experience with palm production would be advantageous.
