    Program Logistics Assistant

    Yobe, North East Nigeria

    The program logistics assistant will report to SFCG’s project coordinator in Yobe, and work in close coordination with the Grants and Finance officer under the Project. The position will be based in Yobe and with include frequent travels to the field.

    About the Project
    The overall objective of the UN Women project ‘Protection, Empowerment and Resilience Building (PERD) of Women in Borno and Yobe States’ is to empower communities and build resilience through promoting socio-economic behavior change to address the root causes of gender-based violence (GBV) and improve access to formal and informal judiciary systems, as well as economic empowerment opportunities for women. As a component of this program, the proposed project has the following two specific outcomes, and related outputs and indicators:

    Outcome 1: Women and girls’ safety increased through community-based actions to mitigate risks, and prevent and respond to incidents of GBV in Borno and Yobe states.

    Outcome 2: Targeted women in Borno and Yobe states have improved livelihood and access to income generating activities (IGA).

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the timely and successful implementation of activities
    • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities
    • Support in coordinating and make arrangement for logistics for various meetings, and trainings, including invitations, venue, participants travel and accommodation;
    • Participate in mobilization for radio program when delegated
    • Assist in planning and preparation of agendas, minutes of meetings and make arrangements for different program related meetings.
    • Handle all logistics of workshops, events, meetings, such as liaising with hotels for meetings, conferences and making reservations for planned activities and staff during visits
    • Arrange for travel, hotel reservations and logistical support for Project Staff and stakeholders
    • Support and follow-up on the implementation of program activities in accordance with program proposal and activities timeline;
    • Create and nurture positive working relationship with relevant stakeholders
    • Provide support to the Program Coordinator in identifying key relevant stakeholders;
    • Develop and nurture relations with relevant community, LGA and state, stakeholders;
    • Create and maintain a database of all relevant contacts
    • Communicate with relevant Program stakeholders and mobilize them to ensure their participation to the Program’s activities
    • Represent Search to local authorities meetings, when delegated
    • Ensure regular sharing of information & updates with partners;
    • Contribute to reporting efforts
    • Keep track of Program progress and feed in Search’s monitoring and evaluation system;
    • Contributes to writing and producing reports that include but not limited to activity reports, context updates, monthly reports, quarterly reports, success stories, and case studies;
    • Analyse the context within the scope of the Program and provide inputs for regular context updates;
    • Compile data, and prepare documents for consideration and presentation by Project Staff.
    • Assist in preparing program progress reports and documenting program success;

    As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.
    Qualifications

    Education
    Bachelor’s degree in development studies, law, conflict analysis, social studies or a related field;

    Required Experience

    • 1 – 2 years of relevant practical experience working with a non-profit as a Program assistant, preferably in North East;
    • Experience working within the admin and logistics department
    • Experience with INGO in Women, Peace and Security area.
    • Substantial experience working in the peace building and conflict transformation field,

    Other Relevant Requirements

    • Proven interest & commitment to humanitarian and development principles and a demonstrable understanding of conflict/post conflict development contexts
    • Excellent in English (oral and written)
    • Ability to plan, organize work, communicate and reports effectively (both in writing and verbally)
    • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
    • team player, effective communicator, successful negotiator, creative and analytical thinker, active learner, able to work in a multicultural environment
    • Excellent communication skills, calm, with a good sense of humour
    • Excellent sense of confidentiality
    • Excellent listening and empathy
    • Proven commitment to accountability practices
    • Ability to function effectively under stressful conditions such as heavy workloads, and deadlines.
    • Excellent Microsoft Office applications skills (Excel, Word, Power point, Emails, Skype, Web researchers)
