    Credit and Risk Management Strategist

    JOB OBJECTIVE:
    The Strategist, Credit Control & Risk Management is responsible making strategic decisions on all activities of the Credit & Risk Management department. He/she ensures effective & efficient control of the organization’s debt & risk management processes. Helps determine the amount of financial risks involved concerning investments and operational costs.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:                         

    • Ensure accurate maintenance of customer accounts & records.
    • Ensure prompt attention to all returned cheques issues.
    • Ensure debtors balances are kept at zero level or at worst not above 2% of total credit portfolio.
    • Reduce to the barest minimum the possibility of bad debts.
    • Working to aid the maintenance of a good cash flow position.
    • Ensure timely processing of new transaction files in accordance with the process manual.
    • Carrying out reviews on credit policies to ensure that the information is relevant and up-to-date.
    • Present periodic report on portfolio performance to the Management and the board.
    • Monitoring the company’s risk asset portfolio.
    • Monitoring the company’s Non-performing loan and Portfolio-At-Risk (PAR).
    • Providing recommendation to the management and the Board regarding the risk exposure of the company.
    • Monitor the business development for emerging new risks and make recommendations on policies and procedures to improve the risk management process at RFS.
    • Collaborate with the Strategy & Marketing department in designing new products.
    • Facilitate the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, controlling and reporting the level of risks in the Company.
    • Planning, designing implementing & managing the overall risk management process for the organization by developing risk policies, principles, processes and reporting standards that define the Company’s risk strategy and appetite in line with its overall business objectives;
    • Risk assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business;
    • Risk evaluation, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the organization’s previous handling of risks;
    • Establish and quantify the organization’s 'risk appetite', i.e. the level of risk the organization is prepared to accept;
    • Risk reporting in an appropriate way for different audiences, for example, to the board of directors so they understand the most significant risks, to business heads to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks.
    • Maintain oversight over the Company’s enterprise risk management activities.
    • Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders.
    • Carry out processes such as purchasing insurance, and making business continuity plans to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong.
    • Conduct periodic audit of relevant policies and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors.
    • Provide support, education and training to staff in order to create risk awareness within the organization.
    • Ensure continuous improvement in skills and competence of staff within the CRM department.
    • Carrying out other tasks that may be assigned by Management & the Board of Directors.

    Qualification: HND/BSc/MSc
    Relevant Experience:

    Minimum of 5 years’ experience with minimum of 3 years’ experience in Credit and Risk Management or a similar job function.
