Administrative Assistant (Project Revitalizing Adult and Youth Literacy in Nigeria)
Type of Contract: Service Contract l5
Post level: L5
Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and Supervision of the Administrative Officer, the Administrative Assistant provides functional administrative support to the Project « Revitalizing Adult and Youth literacy in Nigeria» in the Abuja Office in the delivery of quality services in correspondence Management effective Administrative and financial system, Asset Management. Maintenance of utilities, effective logistics Management.
The Administrative Assistant is expected to :
1. Support the monitoring of the Project financial performance by providing necessary financial information and analysis, including implementation rate.
2. Detect potential over-under expenditure problems and works with the Project Officer and the Administrative Officer to ensure that these are addressed.
3. Develop tools and mechanisms for effective monitoring of the Project budget, compilation of financial data and provide accurate and up-dated financial information to the Project Officer on a regular basis.
4. Develop an effective and efficient filing system of the project files according to UNESCO Rules and Regulations.
5. Provide logistical and technical support to the Project implementation by facilitating 110tel reservations for conferences, meetings and workshops, preparation of missions for the Project Staff, calculation and payment of daily subsistence allowances to participants in line with UNESCO Rules and Regulations.
6. Maintain and update Project Asset Management requirements both physically and electronically.
7. Execute any other assignment as directed by the Project Officer or the Administrative Officer.
Qualification and Experience:
The ideal candidate should
Posses a Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration of related field.
Have a minimum of 6 years experience preferably in programme/project finance management In the public or private sector. experience within the UN will be an added advantage;
Be fluent in oral and written English and proficient in current office software applications, excel and other accounting package.

One Driver will be based at the UNESCO Office while the other one will be working from the Federal Ministry of Education

Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and Supervision of the Administrative Officer. the Driver provides functional support to the Project “Revitalizing Adult and Youth Literacy in Nigeria” in the Abuja Office in the delivery of quality driving services for the implementation of the Project activities
The Incumbent is expected to :
i. Serve as Driver to the Project Revitalizing Adult and Youth Literacy Programme in Nigeria
ii. Dispatch mails and other materials related to the Project
iii. Maintain Project vehicle in good working condition and record all vehicle movement in the logbook
iv. Assist with airport, Hotel reception and security escorts with regards to missions in relation to the project
v. Assist in workshop logistics, photocopying, binding and filing of documents
vi. Undertake other duties and responsibilities upon request by the Supervisor or Project Officer
Qualification and Experience:
i. Completion of secondary education
ii. Fluency in English language
iii. Valid Driver's license with at least 5 years driving experience
iv. Excellent driving skills and ability to use basic motor tools
v. Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations and UN Experience as a driver
vi. Familiar with the local traffic laws and safe travel routes and good knowledge of road networks in most Nigerian cities.
vii. Basic computer skills and ability to use office equipment such as Fax, Photocopying Machine, Scanner, etc.

National Programme Officer/ Education (3 positions)

Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory performance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and Supervision of the Programme Specialist in Education, the National Programme Officer/Education for the Revitalizing Adult and Youth literacy Programme in Nigeria.
1. Effectively participate in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Revitalizing Adult and Youth Literacy Programme in Nigeria 2011-2014, including field missions,
2. Prepare quality work plans, mission plans. progress and final reports, briefs and presentations required for the successful and timely implementation or the programme,
3. Ensure effective coordination of programme activities through regular consultation and collaboration With relevant stakeholders and partners.
4. Effectively and timely organize programme-related workshops, seminars, field missions, study tours as per given deadlines and will' strict adherence to UNESCO rules, procedures, and norms.
5. Support the day-to-day operations of the UNESCO Abuja Office and support the Education Unit with routine communication and consultation with relevant officials at federal and state levels.
6. Keep abreast with national development programmes and trends with a view to identifying. organizing and analyzing relevant information to underpin the implementation and monitoring of [he Revitalizing Adult and Youth Literacy Programme in Nigeria.
7. Perform any other duty deemed necessary by the Director of the Office
Minimum Qualifications Required:
The ideal candidates should posses
1. Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in education.
2. 5 to 10 years of work experience in the fled of education at national level Experience in and familiarity with the work of tile United Nations, multilateral or bilateral organizations will be an asset
3. Ability to think and plan strategically and to work effectively with teams,
4. Excellent communication and report writing skills.
5. Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written), A brief written test may be used in the evaluation of candidates.
