
The organisation is seeking to
employ the following persons who will work primarily at the head office in
Freetown, Sierra leone but will also be responsible for oversight and
supervision of other offices around Africa. Both Officers will report directly
to the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation.
CHIEF ACCOUNTANT(Head of Finance & Administration)
The Head of Finance and Administration will provide overall strategic and
operational leadership of all financial and administrative functions. The
administrative functions are assumed to include human resources management, procurement,
information and communications technology, administration and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities will include amongst others:
•Prepare and distribute timely and accurate financial information and ceding
statements in conformity with statutory principles and regulations.
• Prepare, reconcile and analyze reinsurance statements at a client and entity
level.
• Monitor the reconciliation of items and ensure that action plans are in place
to resolve any issue.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvements and operational
efficiencies.
• Develop and maintain process documentation.
•
Prepare reports for ad hoc requests from internal and external business
partners.
•
Support periodic statutory audit reviews: External Audit and Internal Audit.
•
Contract review and system and file set up in compliance with contract terms.
•
Prepare and process monthly and Quarterly journal entries and reconciliations.
•
Developing and maintaining good client relations with internal and external
clients.
•
Prepare and document client analysis on a monthly, Quarterly and annual basis.Reporting to the appropriate regulatory authorities.
• Maintain efficient and cost effective processes.
• Prepare financial reports to be used by management and the Board of Directors.
• Prepare annual financial statements.
• Preparation of annual budget.
• To
ensure that the Human Resource policy as approved by the Board is effectively
and efficiently implemented
• To
maintain an efficient administrative system that will make for the smooth
operations of the organisation.
• Execute the company's procurement activities in line with laid down policy.
• Ensure that procurement activities are conducted in a timely and efficient
manner taking cognizance of the impact on business effectiveness.
• Take
primary responsibility for the implementation of the information and
communications technology policy.
• Ensure that the company's website is updated and maintained on a regular basis
• Ensure that all ICT equipment and systems' are in good order.
• Liaise with external service providers in ensuring that all equipment and
systems are in good order.
• Any
other tasks as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications/Required Skills/Experience
•
Bachelors degree in Accounting.
•
Professional Qualification in Accounting.
• At
least 10 years post qualification related experience with not less than 5 years
at the senior management level.
• Good
understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance accounting and reporting concepts
under GAAP.
•
Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Good
organizational skills.
•
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
•
Ability to expertly utilize technology to enhance efficiencies.
•
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse
audiences.
• Work
experience in a high energy, fast paced team focused environment.
CHIEF UNDERWRITER (Head of Technical Operations)
The successful candidate will provide overall strategic and operational
leadership of all reinsurance business both inward and outward and will take
overall responsibility for all aspects of the company's technical operations.
Key responsibilities will include amongst others:
• Set
up a dynamic technical department/structure for the company.
• Head
Technical Operations of the entity/technical committee of the management.
• To
develop Underwriting Policy/Manual.
• Take
sound Underwriting decisions in the best interest of the corporation.
•
Arrange Reinsurance and Retrocession programmes for the Corporation.
•
Acceptance of new business for the Corporation (treaty and facultative).
•
Rating of Treaty/Treaty Negotiation/Quotations.
•
Design appropriate reinsurance programme for the Cedants,
•
Arrange and facilitate the training programmes for the Corporation (Cedants and
Technical Staff).
•
Supervise the preparation of reinsurance technical accounts/annual accounts.
•
Prepare treaty wordings/agreement/addendum.
•
Adequate knowledge of Claims processing and settlement/documentation.
•
Provide vision, leadership & direction for the department.
•
Identify, seek and place reinsurance business with reinsurers in the sub region
and elsewhere.
•
Determine a measurable Action Plan and ongoing strategy for the department
•
Monitor department performance.
• Ensure
effective, efficient and economic use of human, financial and physical resource
in the department.
•
Engage constructively with other relevant organizations and agencies locally
and internationally.
• Any
other duties that the Chief Executive Officer may assign to him/her.
Qualifications/Required Skills/Experience
•
Bachelors degree in any social science.
• ACII
qualification or its recognized equivalent.
• An
MBA in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
• 10
years post qualification experience with not less than 5 years at the senior
management level.
• Good
