    Regional Controls Application Engineer

    Job Description

    • This position involves preparing Conversion, Modification & Uprate (CM&U) technical proposals (including research, technical description, performance, emissions and cost definition), supporting engineering deliverables and engaging in the solution of Control system field issues.
    • In this role as a control Application Engineer, you will utilize conceptual thinking and the ability to quickly determine applicability of GE technology to support the growing market in the MEA region.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Provide engineering leadership and have responsibility for all technical aspects of assessing each opportunity upfront for feasibility.
    • Identify risk areas and address technical issues inherent with retrofitting GE gas equipment.
    • Review customer specifications and ensure offering satisfies requirements and identify exceptions and/or clarifications.
    • Coordinate with customers, GE regional and headquarters sales and operations support, EED components, and key Core Power Services organizations to ensure the Controls CM&U proposal is compatible with the unit, the customer needs, GE design standards and established quoting limits.
    • Prepare and deliver technical presentations at customer meetings and conferences.
    • Promote and contribute to business programs (cost reduction, continuous improvement, workout, business teams, etc.).
    • Lead system level / fleet wide proposal activities.
    • Review and own proposal related metrics.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science or Electrical engineering
    • Minimum of 10 years of Controls engineering experience
    • Minimum of 8 years of Controls gas turbine, steam turbine and generator product knowledge
    • Hands-on experience on MKV, MKVI, MKVIe and other GE power generation controls equipment
    • Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location
    • A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required (please indicate clearly on your resume) Nigerians Only.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications 
    Desired Characteristics:     

    • Extensive background with GE Gas and Steam Turbine, generator controls product line
    • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems (toolbox, PLM...)
    • Solid industrial control experience, PLC application, with also IEEE and IEC standards
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience and demonstrated success working in a cross-functional environment
    • Proven track record for delivering results and leading projects in a dynamic business environment
    • Strong customer focus mindset
    • Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
    • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Sciences
    • Fluent in English and French
    • Six Sigma Green Belt certification (GE employees only)

    Maintenance Engineer

    Role Summary/Purpose:    

    The Maintenance Engineer, reporting to the Field Services Manager, or his appointed designate, is chartered with maintaining the fleet of GE Oil & Gas products, based in the GE facility in Port Harcourt and also on customer locations. The role will encompass a wide range of Open and Cased Hole Wireline tools and products, with a strong focus on the Mechanical Interventions Product Line.

    Essential Responsibilities:    

    - Maintaining a fleet of wireline tools to ensure that they are available for service
    - Executing a robust PM schedule to ensure the tools are maintained to set standards, with full traceability
    - Providing onsite support, and occasional customer training of products and resources to both our external and internal customers, based mainly in Nigeria.
    - Assisting the Training Manager and Field Services Manager in the delivery and support of customer training, materials, and training courses involving the OH/CH Wireline product line
    - Assisting in providing customer technical and operational feedback with close interaction with technical services arising from customer interaction and support.
    - Support and promotion of the best practices involved in the processes and requirements of GE’s policies and procedures, especially in regard to the guidelines in Environment, Health and safety (EHS) and GE’s core values.

     

    Qualifications/Requirements:    

    - Minimum 5 years experience of maintaining and repairing Open and Cased Hole Logging Tools including Sondex Wireline products
    - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college or equivalent Industrial Experience
    - Capability to interpret technical information in order to assemble, operate and maintain complex mechanical systems
    - Able to travel to customer operational bases and well site locations at short notice, work under pressure and willingness to work in varying conditions.
    - Team worker - ability to work in team to achieve shared goals.
    - Results focused - ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize workload.
    - Software Skills: Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office range of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    - Full valid Driving License
    - Ability to work and travel in Nigeria

    General Field Engineer

    - Providing field support, field service delivery and customer training of products and resources to both our external and internal customers, field operations, based mainly in Nigeria.
    - Executing Engineer in Charge duties to support the efficient running of the team
    - Assisting the Training Manager and Field Services Manager in the delivery and support of customer training, materials, and training courses involving the OH/CH Wireline product line
    - Provide Field support to the relevant Product line managers relating to bringing NPI/NTI (New Product Innovation/New Technology Innovation) to market.
    - Supporting the Sales Team with demonstrations of Sondex Equipment and occasional customer meetings
    - Assisting in providing customer technical and operational feedback with close interaction with technical services arising from customer interaction and support.
    - Support and promotion of the best practices involved in the processes and requirements of GE’s policies and procedures, especially in regard to the guidelines in Environment, Health and safety (EHS) and GE’s core values.

    Qualifications/Requirements:    

    - Minimum 5 years Open/Cased Hole Logging Experience including Production Logging and Well Integrity Evaluation with proven success in the Wireline field operations.
