    OCHA Public Information-Reporting Officer

    Travel within country/region required? Travel required.

    Will an equipped workstation and any necessary communication and MOSS equipment be made available to the ERR member/SBP secondee? SBP needs to bring his/her own; little is available locally as of yet.
    Details on security situation/structure and staff well-being: (security phase, living condition?)
    This post is based in Abuja (Security level 3) with frequent travel to states in security level 4 and occasional travel to security level 5 areas.
    Living conditions in Nigeria, even in the Federal Capital, range from challenging to extremely challenging in the NE. Further details available.
    Main tasks and duties to be executed:
    Monitors and analyses current events relevant to humanitarian action; identifies humanitarian issues and trends
    Proactively seeks available information by frequently liaising with respondents and other stakeholders
    Produces humanitarian bulletins, situation reports and other information products as required
    Participates in selecting the information transmitted to key constituencies and responds to queries
    Prepares and participates in relevant coordination meetings and missions when required

    Specific Required Qualifications: (language skills, experience, etc.)
    Fluency in English
    Excellent writing and communication skills
    Exposure to humanitarian affairs, experience in inter agency coordination and access issues' an asset
    Experience in working with multiple organizations
    Knowledge of institutional mandates, policies and guidelines pertaining to humanitarian assistance
    Ability to work in a mulita-cultural team under demanding working conditions.
    Ability to work in a stressing environment and to meet tight deadlines
