Purpose of the position

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data and GIS Analyst to join our organization.
• The Senior Data analyst will be responsible for managing and analyzing spatial and non-spatial datasets, conducting spatial analysis, and providing strategic insights through data-driven decision-making.
• The ideal candidate should have a strong background in data analysis and a deep understanding of statistical methods.
• This role requires exceptional skills in advance data analytics, modelling, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a strong attention to detail.

What you'll do

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:

• Lead and mentor junior members of the data analysis team, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover insights and trends, utilizing advanced statistical methods and techniques.
• Develop and implement complex statistical models to support business objectives and drive strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
• Design and create comprehensive data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data analysis techniques, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Act as a subject-matter expert on data analysis best practices, providing guidance and expertise to stakeholders across the organization.
• Researches, and evaluates data solutions and libraries, providing recommendations on new technology relevant to exploration and growth.

Databases

• Maintain, upgrade and create SQL database views and other data warehousing in order to provide relevant information to functions within exploration and growth.

Data Management

• SharePoint, Data Analytics, SNL and other mining and markets third party data sources
  Generator of Geospatial Knowledge and Analytics.
• Continuous improvement, keep abreast and apply new technologies that are fit for purpose within the GIS and Analytics fields.
• Owning Data Warehouse for Exploration and Growth.

Who you are

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to successfully perform this job.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geoinformatics, Statistic, Geomatics, Mining Engineering, Data Analytics or related field
• A postgraduate Degree / Master's degree will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of proven five (05) years experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in a senior role.
• Expert proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages commonly used for data analysis and manipulation
• Strong understanding of advanced statistical methods and techniques, including regression analysis, time series forecasting, and machine learning.
• Extensive experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, with prior experience mentoring or leading a team of data analysts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering actionable insights.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
• Significant and advanced statistical experience may substitute for the Master’s degree.
  Relevant working experience in an NGO is desirable. Demonstrated Knowledge of GIS data principles, practices and Techniques, Cartography and data collection systems.
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

Purpose of the position

• The Senior Coordinator, Software Engineering is responsible for developing and supporting projects, functions and completing specific client work, projects, and miscellaneous tasks. This highly responsible position involves using established work procedures to analyze, design, develop, implement, maintain, re-engineer and troubleshoot applications.

What you’ll do

• Directs technical aspects of operations related to client accounts or high-severity issues
• Participates in the evolution of company-level software best practices, standards, and policies
• Defines objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality
• Works closely with developers and end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
• Collaborates with product owners, technical architects, and other software developers to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and mobile-based applications
• Provides thought-leadership as to emerging technologies and integrate them into business operations
• Assists in the estimation and assessment of feasibility of solutions for upcoming projects

Who you are

• Bachelor’s degree from college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Technology, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Software Development or an equivalent of education and experience.
• Well familiar with the whole software development life cycle (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and execution models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, etc.).
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, its module loaders, and frameworks such as AngularJS and ReactJS.
• Strong understanding of Python and desirably Django.
• Thorough understanding of RESTful API design, usage, and best practices.
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Good understanding of databases and SQL. Exposure to NoSQL Databases is ideal.
• Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt and Gulp.js.
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance.
• Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems and environments.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform.
• Strong unit test and debugging skills as well as proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git).
• Experience in the creation and review of software and architecture designs.
• Fluent in English.
