    Safety Patroller

    Job Summary

    Participate in implementing the DCP approved occupational safety program, analysing and administering various components of the safety programs.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Implement approved safety plans and programs in the Plant and monitor employees’ compliance with safety policies.
    • Support in planning and promoting safety programs and conduct periodic assessments to identify program deficiencies.
    • Assist in conducting safety drills at the Plant, in line with approved schedule.
    • Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or use of personal protective equipment.
    • Perform or assist with accident investigations as required and ensure prompt communication of recommendations to all concerned parties.
    • Support in the execution of approved corrective action to prevent future incidents.
    • Provide information to Compensation Administrators for timely processing of compensation benefits for injured individuals.
    • Maintain complete and accurate records of safety activities and accident occurrences and develop periodic reports to determine safety trends and needs.
    • Conduct periodic inspections of DCP Plants to assist managers and supervisors in environmental, health, and safety compliance.
    • Collect, analyse and maintain data essential for effective safety programs.
    • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, officials, external organisations, and representatives of Local, State, and Federal agencies.
    • Participate in the conduct of basic HSE induction exercises for Plant employees, contractors and visitors.

    Education and Work Experience

    • SSCE
    • Relevant safety training from recognized safety Professional body
    • Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.

    • Adequate knowledge of the cement and manufacturing industry.
    • Adequate knowledge of safety regulations.
    • Ability to adequately analyse an incident and proffer valuable solutions.
    • Ability to communicate incidences and emergencies clearly.

    Heavy Equipment Dozer - Cement Industry

    Description

    • Operate bulldozer to execute all assigned dozer work. This includes tasks such as clearing land, leveling ground, and moving earth and debris to facilitate construction projects.
    • Assess all assigned jobs to ensure the terrain is safe for the bulldozer to operate on. This involves conducting thorough inspections of the work area, noting any potential hazards, and taking necessary precautions to mitigate risks.
    • Identify all unsafe conditions in the area the bulldozer is deployed to work. This includes recognizing any potential obstacles, unstable surfaces, or hazardous materials that may impact the safe operation of the machine.
    • Carry out pre and after operation checks on the engine oil, hydraulic oil, and water levels of the bulldozer at all times. Ensuring proper lubrication and fluid levels helps maintain the optimal performance and longevity of the machine.
    • Submit the bulldozer to maintenance for all scheduled maintenance work. Regular servicing and inspections help identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring the continued reliability and safety of the machine.
    • Ensure cleanliness of the bulldozer at all times. This involves regularly cleaning the exterior and interior of the machine to remove debris and prevent any damage or interference with its operations.
    • Report all faults/breakdowns promptly to the Mines Supervisor, whether it is during general or normal duty. Timely reporting of any malfunctions or issues helps facilitate efficient repairs and minimizes downtime.
    • Attend the daily Tool Box Talk at the resumption of shift operation. This is a safety briefing where important updates, instructions, and best practices are shared to promote a safe working environment.
    • Ensure necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is used on a regular basis. This includes wearing items such as hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots to mitigate the risk of injuries while operating the bulldozer.
    • Perform any other jobs as may be assigned. This involves being flexible and willing to assist with various tasks beyond the primary dozer work, contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of the team.

    Requirements

    • Trade Test 1 plus 8 years
    • Trade Test 2 plus 16 years
