    Case Work Officer

    General description of the position:

    The purpose of the position is to support the most vulnerable and at-risk boys, girls, men, and women through the provision of integrated, safe, and confidential case management services implemented by the Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines. The post holder will oversee implementing case management activities to ensure high-quality case management service delivery.

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

    Case Management

    • Provide individually tailored comprehensive Child Protection Case Management Services to Unaccompanied, Separated, and Other Vulnerable Children in line with the Case Management Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Receive and provide referral services for specialized case management services.
    • Ensure the confidentiality of the information collected during the case management services and input the information on digital platforms.
    • Establish a harmonious working environment with a wide range of stakeholders more specifically, children, beneficiaries, service providers, community leaders, religious leaders, and local government authorities.
    • Raise the profile of case management services in the project area by training volunteers and raising awareness in the community.
    • Support the establishment and strengthening of Community-Based Child Protection mechanisms.
    • Make strong efforts for the sustainability of the Community-Based Child Protection Mechanisms by linking them to government structures and long-term programs/projects.
    • Submit detailed weekly and monthly activity reports to the Case Management Supervisor
    • Provide weekly and monthly situation reports on the context and the evolving risks and threats hampering the protection and well-being of children in the Tdh project location. 

    Mandatory Requirements

    • Language Skills: Fluent in local languages and English (speaking/reading/writing).
    • Education Degree:  University degree in Social Work, Social Studies, Human Rights, or any other related discipline.
    • Work experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of Child Protection / Case management / SGBV / Social work.

    Child Protection Supervisor

    General description of the position:

    The Child Protection Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, holds a pivotal role in overseeing and directing all child protection programs, including case management, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) initiatives. Tasked with planning, executing, and supervising these programs, the Supervisor provides vital technical guidance, facilitates capacity-building efforts, ensures stringent quality assurance, and actively engages with communities to ensure efficient service delivery and coordination. Additionally, the Supervisor oversees emergency initiatives, collaborating closely with stakeholders to integrate relevant components into the response efforts. By providing strategic direction and operational support across child protection domains, the Supervisor makes significant contributions to enhancing interventions and safeguarding the well-being and rights of vulnerable children and families.

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

    Supervision and Technical Support:

    • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of child protection  activities in emergency settings.
    • Develop detailed program plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards.
    • Oversee the implementation of interventions, including case management, psychosocial support, and education initiatives.
    • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of child protection and education staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support as needed.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff to enhance their skills and competencies.
    • Facilitate capacity-building initiatives to strengthen staff knowledge and expertise in child protection and education in emergency response.
    • Raise to the line manager new needs in items and services for the implementation of CP activities and participate in the development of PSR and procurement plans.
    • Supervise the effective implementation of the vocational skills training program, livelihood, and small business component of the project.
    • Establish and manage up-to-date records of all activities at the skills facilitation and training centers, including statistics and stock records of materials/equipment.
    • Maintain the database on all CP activities.
    • Oversee the small business grant start-up, apprenticeship, and cooperatives.

    Staff Management:

    • Manage and support the performance of CP staff through regular supervision, mentoring, and capacity building.
    • Facilitate team meetings, promote a positive work environment, and address any staff-related issues or concerns.

    Capacity Building:

    • Identify training needs and develop capacity-building plans for CP staff.
    • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance staff skills and competencies in relevant areas.

    Quality Assurance and Monitoring:

    • Establish and implement quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness and quality of CP services.
    • Monitor program activities, data collection, and reporting systems to track progress, identify gaps, and facilitate continuous improvement.

    Community Engagement and Advocacy:

    • Engage with communities to raise awareness about case management, mental health and   psychosocial support in emergency.
    • Advocate for the rights and needs of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and survivors of trauma.

     Monitoring & Evaluation

    • Ensure regular assessments of Tdh activities through technical follow-up sessions, spot checks and monitoring visits aiming at improving the quality and efficiency of the intervention (lessons learned and capitalization)
    • Coordinate and ensure collection of quantitative and qualitative data in respect to the confidentiality policies and procedures
    • Ensure that monitoring system documents and tools are understood and properly filed by the team and systematically submitted to the MEAL   department
    • Liaise and coordinate with the MEAL department to facilitate the implementation and compliance with the MEAL plans designed for the projects
    • Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress, measure impact, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports on program activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of program activities, including case files, monitoring reports, and other relevant data on CPIMS+

    Reporting

    • Ensure regular communication with the Head of Base about updates, achievements and challenges through activity progress reports, meetings and ad-hoc communication.
    • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and or monitoring reports on child protection activities.
    • Compile training reports, including pre and post-test analysis, and success stories on child protection activities.
    • Document the response, experiences, and lessons learned on child protection in emergencies programming related to child protection activities.
    • Conduct regular assessments, analysis, and advise on program design and modifications for child protection activities.
    • Lead the CP team in proficient information management, monitoring and evaluation, and information sharing.
    • Manage and consolidate child protection databases, CPIMS+ and support the development of monitoring and evaluation tools for performance improvement.
    • Ensure data protection assurance in coordination with the MEAL department for child protection and education activities.
    • Develop appropriate IEC materials on CP to build awareness of services and promote key messages.
    • Ensure compliance with CP program actions and lead the review of progress through reporting on Programme follow-up.
    • Provide weekly SITREPs and Monthly reports of CP activities and contribute inputs for regular donor and internal reports.
    • Supervise CP service mapping in the intervention area and assess current child protection programming within Nigeria.
    • Promote a culture of learning and documentation to share lessons learned and good practices in child protection activities.

    Coordination and Representation

    • Coordinate the overall management and coordination of case management and MHPSS programs.
    • Ensure integration and collaboration between different program components and sectors to provide holistic support to beneficiaries.
    • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with relevant ministries, agencies, and departments (MWASD) to facilitate effective coordination of CP   activities.
    • Report to the Head of Base and actively participate in Case Management case conferences, MHPSS working groups, and CPSS Sector under their supervision.
    • Coordinate with humanitarian actors within the area of responsibility, including MHPSS working groups, Child Protection Sub Sector, CM Task Force,  and other relevant groups to promote coordination and collaboration.
    • Ensure full coordination with communities and community leaders to address child protection and Education in emergency needs comprehensively.
    • Promote coordination and integration with other sectors within Tdh to enhance the effectiveness of   initiatives.
    • Participate in specific mental health/psychosocial sector meetings or related meetings, such as Protection, and GBV, , as requested by the line manager.
    • Advocate for child protection issues with other humanitarian actors in project locations and maintain regular communication with CM Technical Coordinator/Activity Coordinator regarding field updates, achievements, and challenges.
    • Ensure close coordination with Tdh case management, PSS, and Community-Based teams for identification and referrals, and coordinate with Tdh support departments to ensure timely procurement and distribution within the Emergency CM Fund.
    • Proactively cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in the designated area to foster collaboration and support for CP initiatives.

    • Report serious cases of abuse on children that she/he would be aware of in Tdh’s intervention locations. Strict confidentiality must be respected

    Requirements:

    • Work experience: Minimum of five years experience designing, planning, implementing, supervising, and reporting on Child Protection in Emergencies Programming

    Education Officer

    General description of the position:

    Reporting to the Education Supervisor, under the overall supervision of the Child Protection and Education in Emergencies Program Manager, the Education Officer is responsible to support the development and implementation of the Education activities in Tdh project locations. This position will take responsibility for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Tdh’s education programme to improve children’s learning outcomes (literacy, Numeracy and skills acquisition) through both formal and non-formal education activities.

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

    • Provide technical support in the areas of education in emergencies to teachers, facilitators, volunteers and community members engaged in the project.
    • Closely collaborate with all the concerned stakeholders to ensure that programme goals are achieved and sustained.
    • Actively participate in education-related activities and meetings and seek active collaboration with other players working in the education sector.
    • Adhere to the work plan and ensure the activities are fully implemented as per the national/international and North-east Nigeria Education Sector guidelines.
    • Ensure close supervision and support of field-based education activities
    • Support in the establishment of CPiE component within the Education activities
    • Support set up of clear referral pathways between Education and CP teams in close collaboration with PSS and Case Work Officers
    • Identify and communicate project gaps, challenges and vulnerabilities to the line manager on a timely basis and suggest possible solutions to the problems.
    • Actively participate in the setup of clear monitoring and evaluation plan (including the development and implementation of tools)
    • Feed the project monitoring tools with the highest level of accuracy in close coordination with the project monitoring team.
    • Establish and strengthen School Based Management Committees including training and community engagements.

    Coordination & Représentation :

    • Liaise with relevant government authorities, State Universal Basic Education Board, Camp Coordination and Camp Management and relevant humanitarian actors for the proper coordination and implementation of the project.
    • Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and final reports based on project targets and results.

    Child Protection :

    • Promote inclusion and equal access to education for every child, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and at-risk children;
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information and data of beneficiaries at all times;
    • Ensure Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the programmatic activities;
    • Report serious cases of abuse committed against children to the Child Protection Project Manager. Strict confidentiality must be respected.

    Psychosocial Support Officer

    General description of the position:

    The primary function of the position is to carry out an array of age and gender appropriate psychosocial support activities for children and adolescent whose life skill and social skills will be developed and/or strengthened through appliance of participatory non-formal and informal education methodologies which are instrumental in strengthening the positive coping capacities of boys and girls, restoration of their normalcy, routine , stability, structure and hope for the future. The activities will be well-integrated into Northeastern Nigerian protection system and humanitarian coordination practices and guidelines and will respect culture and contextual sensitivities.

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct specific child-focused and adolescent-focused activities for psychosocial well-being and building resiliency of children and adolescents by ensuring a variety of activities that include active games, sports, expressive/creative activities, life skills, educational activities
    • Engaging children and adolescent in activities and functioning of Child Clubs and Youth Clubs and provide support in this process
    • Mobilize children, adolescent boys and girls from the Child Clubs and Youth Clubs to launch community service projects that suit their interest, promote their psychosocial well-being and create an opportunity for their direct social engagement at community level
    • Conduct Emotional Support Group sessions for parents/caregivers
    • Together with the Outreach Team, participate in a conduct of awareness sessions on child protection issues and the right to education and the issues affecting the protection and well-being of children
    • Participate in facilitation of the trainings and meetings with School-based Management Committees, teachers, education volunteers
    • Provide basic counseling sessions to support children and their caregivers to better cope with difficulties, distress and enhance their resiliency
    • Support  and empower children and caregivers in accessing and benefitting from services and activities that enhance their integration within the host community
    • Identify vulnerable children and adults in a need of protection or support and conduct  referral to the case management team
    • Establish and maintain positive and efficient relations with target beneficiaries, community members, education personnel, partner’s staffers and all the other key actors;
    • Make sure to have supplies available for the activities at all times and ensure that at the end of the day the material is securely stored
    • Seek for synergies to optimize resources and time and strengthening services for the beneficiaries whenever possible
    • Prepare weekly activity schedule, keep a record of newly registered beneficiaries, fill beneficiaries daily’s attendance lists and other reports as required by the line manager and ensure accuracy and timely submission
    • Under the guidance of the PSS Team Leader, conduct participatory monitoring activities to collect beneficiaries’ feedback and opinions on the quality and satisfaction with the activities.
    • Provide effective supervision, mentorship and guidance to PSS volunteers.
    • Participate in surveys and data collection when required.
    • Perform any other job-related duties as requested by the line manager.

    Child Protection:

    • Promote inclusion and equal access for every child, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and at-risk children
    • Identify potential cases of children victims and/or at heightened risk of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect and any other child protection concern or threat and report to the Case Management Team
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information and data of beneficiaries at all times.
    • Ensure Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the programmatic activities.

    • Coordinates with other Tdh sectors to ensure implementation of standardized activities and with other departments (programme and support) of Tdh Nigeria as necessary
