    Communications Strategist

    Job Summary:

    The Communication Strategist develops and implements communication strategies for each thematic area of the organizations work that includes media outreach and social media content creation.

    Responsibilities and Functions:

    • Research and write press releases, and content for the company website, infographics, blogs, newsletters and Social Media platforms.
    • Liaison with program team to coordinate activities, on-line content, and materials across the business unit.
    • Manage the organizations digital presence. Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.
    • Arrange and coordinate press conferences, and plan events where needed.
    • Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring that we produce high-quality and error-free copy.
    • Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
    • Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
    • Develop and maintain close working relations with media outlets and identify opportunities for the organization's senior management for media placement;
    • Organize, provide support and arrange broadcast and print media interviews for Senior Management
    • Propose, edit, draft and pitch op-eds, letters to the editor, and other written, digital, and broadcast commentary.
    • Work across the organization with the management team, programs team and admin team to identify media moments, develop and implement relevant materials and media outreach.
    • Generate innovative ways to gain quality media coverage across all channels.
    • Develop multi-media content for the organization showcasing the organization’s success stories and its people.

    Key Result Areas:

    • Build and calendarize communication strategy and plan for the quarter, covering all thematic areas
    • Improve organization's digital presence, program awareness and engagement by 40% in the next quarter
    • Drive notable traffic to the MedAssist website and build engagement around the program to increase calls to the call centre
    • Create engagement platforms and programs for engaging content, monthly newsletters and highly educative LinkedIn presence.
    • Build network/relationships with media houses and platforms for brand building and awareness activities
    • Coordinate copy editing of project deliverables, develop press releases where needed.
    • Proper planning, quality deliverables and timely completion of assigned/expected tasks

    Requirements :

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related fiends.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience.
    • A proven track record executing communication plan in a fast-paced, multifaceted work environment.
    • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop)
    • Knowledge and understanding of communications practices, design tools and techniques in social media management.

    Program Co-ordinator

    The Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF) is a not-for profit organization founded with the mission of improving the living conditions of Africans by implementing projects contributing to the reduction of poverty, empowerment of women, elimination of conflict, development of rural-communities, and promotion of self-reliance and development.

    We are recruiting to fill the position below.
    Reports to: Head of Programs/Head Resource Mobilization

    Summary:

    Qualified candidate will be working as a senior member of a diverse team to manage the coordination and implementation of the designated projects/Programs. He/she will be Providing leadership, strategic direction, resource mobilization, management and evaluation of all aspects of MMF's current and future projects.

    Responsibilities / Functions:

    Project Management

    • Oversee the overall implementation of the designated project(s) in consultation with the relevant Project Officer(s), ensuring objectives are met within the required time frame and budget. 
    • Provide preventative and corrective action where necessary
    • Manage a comprehensive activity plan for the designated project(s), including resource needs analysis and resource mobilization.
    • Provide leadership and support Program Officers(s) in day-to-day decision making as required.
    • Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectives are conducted and reports made to all stakeholders
    • Support the Head of Programs in the development and production of new concepts and proposals
    • Ensure swift, complete and timely reporting of activities to MMF's donors, management and any other relevant bodies
    • Ensure all relevant documents related to all programs are produced and filed according to MMF guidelines

    Representation

    Develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, donors, UN agencies and other NGOs) and represent MMF at relevant meetings (e.g. state and local government, sector-coordination and security) in order to facilitate and ensure cooperation and partnerships.

    Financial Management

    Sourcing for funding opportunities for programs, preparing and following through proposals for resource mobilization

    Plan and construct the budgets for the designated projects, in collaboration with the relevant program officer(s) in accordance with donor guidelines, ensure that budgets are spent according to donor proposals and regulations and within the appropriate timeframe, making any adjustment recommendations to management.

    Staff Management

    • Ensure all personnel related issues for the staff of the designated project(s) are properly managed. This includes recruitment, appraisal, objective setting, development and training, disciplinary action, etc. 
    • Ensure that staff receive appropriate and adequate training by providing mentoring and coaching 
    • Hold regular team meetings and, through a consultative leadership style and a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure, develop and build an effective team
    • Regularly assess and provide feedback and recommendations on the quality of the programs and interventions after field visits.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Masters in Business Management, Project Management, NGO/ Development management, MBA or any related course. 
    • Minimum of 6 years NGO work experience with atleast 2 years as a program coordinator or similar position
    • Experience in Proposal writing and pursuance, monitoring and evaluation 
    • Proven business / managerial acumen
    • Leadership/project management/Adaptability
    • Initiative and negotiation skills
    • Result oriented, team player/builder
    • Good coordinating, Administrative, planning and presentation skills 
    • Excellent written, oral and communication skills
