    Fleet Officer, DCT

    Description

    The Fleet Officer provides support for the implementation of Dangote Cement Transport’s logistics policies and processes by participating in planning and coordinating movement of cement products and raw materials between the Plant and approved areas.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    • Ensure there is job order raised and signed off before any trucks are sent to the workshop for routine maintenance or accidental repair.
    • Ensure the security of all thetrucks of the company including but not limited to arranging tracking for all the trucks within the fleet, engraving all their parts, etc.
    • Monitor and ensure the routine and need-based maintenance of the trucks in conjunction with the head driver.
    • Support Admin Office in jointly supervising and coordinating work of mechanics and auto repair shop.
    • Relate with the trucks documentation desk to ensure that all the trucks particulars (e.g., registration, insurance) are complete.
    • Track and analyze the vehicles-wise cost of fueling, maintenance, and other recurring expenses pertaining to running of the fleet.
    • Supervise the maintenance of all company trucks within the assigned fleet.
    • Check that invoices received are accurate, and is in line with job order and within budget.
    • Pro-actively monitor the company’s fleet monitoring tracker (NOVA Tracker) for any inconsistencies with the truck’s movements outside the prohibited working locations and hours.
    • Send weekly daily report on the health of the fleets and other related issues arising from the fleet monitoring system. 
    • Raise payment memos for services provided by external contractors.
    • Ensure and implement fleet management and pool cars usage policies and procedures.
    • Any other duties as directed by the Unit Head. 

    Requirements

    Key Requireents:

    • Bachelor’s degree/HND or its equivalent in Transport Management and Logistics, or other related field
    • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of working experience in similar role
    • Must have excellent negotiating skills
    • Must have excellent communication and people skills
    • Must have relationship management skills

    Skills and Behaviors:

    • Ability to appraise and use IT packages and electronic communication methods.
    • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
    • Excellent geographical knowledge.
    • Good people management and coordination skills.
    • Excellent financial acumen.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

    Fleet Manager, DCT

    Job Summary:

    The Fleet Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing transportation-related operations within the organization. The Fleet manager manages the activities of the Fleet Officers, coordinates the movement of finished cement products and raw materials. Fleet Managers ensure that transportation activities comply with safety rules and regulations.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of transportation trucks.
    • Planning, organizing, and managing subordinate staff members to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company's standards.
    • Directing investigations to verify and resolve customer or delivery complaints.
    • Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as company revenue goals and customer service objectives.
    • Arranging repairs and routine maintenance of transportation trucks.
    • Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
    • Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits, and attending company safety meetings.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business management, engineering, or related field.
    • A minimum of 10-12 years’ experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry.
    • Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
    • Experience working with union contracts and transportation-related government regulations.
    • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics.
    • Experience working with transport management systems and warehouse management software, such as Freight Path and Info plus.
    • Ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations.
    • Excellent leadership skills.
    • Good conflict resolution skills

    Skills and Behaviors

    • Ability to appraise and use IT packages and electronic communication methods.
    • Tact, diplomacy and calmness, especially when dealing with tired drivers and disgruntled customers.
    • An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
