    Electromechanical Engineer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a professional Electromechanical Engineer to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
    • The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.

    Duties

    • Support in the preparation of design guidelines and criteria to include electromechanical system arrangements, electric energy/motor requirements, etc.
    • Design and oversee the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for water supply infrastructure.
    •  Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop detailed engineering plans and specifications.
    • Provide inputs to prepare the technical specifications, drawings, and BOQ parts of the bidding documents for civil works in the sections related to electro-mechanical equipment
    • Review and feedback on contractor’s design documentation related to electromechanical equipment
    • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in the design and implementation of electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Conduct inspections and quality control checks to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electrical and mechanical components of the water supply system.
    • Any other tasks assigned by the Sheladia home office/ client to ensure smooth project implementation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 10 years’ experience in the sector including 5 years in Urban Water supply and services projects.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, proficiency in computer- and the ability to work with a team are important.
    • Experience with electrical circuits, control systems, and mechanical design principles is highly desired.

    International Environmental and Social Safeguard Expert

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a professional International Environmental and Social Safeguard Expert to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
    • The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.

    Responsibilities
    Individual will be responsible for:

    • Lead the team on issues related to Safeguard implementation and compliances.
    • Guide and contribute to incorporating best Safeguard practices during the reconstruction/rehabilitation design/review process.
    • Monitor and guide the local contractors on Environmental and Social safeguard practices and requirements under the contract during the construction and operation period.
    • Plan, design, and provide on-ground training and organize meetings with the key stakeholders with support from national safeguard specialists and other team members. 
    • Contribute to project reports on Environmental and Social Safeguard compliances.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders and assist the Chief of Party (CoP) on all safeguard issues.
    • Any other task as directed by the CoP/management to meet the project requirements.
    • Any other tasks assigned by the COP / home office management to ensure smooth project implementation.

    Qualifications

    • Must have Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Development Management or relevant discipline.
    • Must have fifteen years of general experience in the infrastructure sector.
    • Must possess three years prior work experience in Urban WASH projects.
    • Must possess five years of international experience.
    • Prior experience on donor (USAID, World Bank, MCC etc.) funded projects is highly desired.

    Asset Management Specialist (Local)

    Job Description

    • Sheladia Associates is seeking a professional Asset Management Specialist to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
    • The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.

    Responsibilities
    Individual will be responsible for:

    • Assist the team in the preparation of Asset inventory, and asset management plans.
    • Develop and implement asset management strategies and plans for the rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure.
    • Conduct condition assessments and performance evaluations needs and pyritize projects.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop detailed rehabilitation plans, including cost estimates, timelines, and resource requirements.
    • Manage and coordinate the execution of rehabilitation projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
    • Monitor and track project progress, including budget and schedule, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
    • Conduct risk assessment and developing risk mitigations strategies to minimize disruption to water supply during rehabilitation activities.
    • Implement asset management systems and tools to rack asset performance, maintenance activities, and lifecycle costs.

    Qualifications

    • Must have Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
    • Must possess strong knowledge of asset management principles and practices, particularly in the context of water supply systems.
    • Must have experience in conducting condition assessments, risk assessments, and life cycle analyses of infrastructure assets.
    • Proficiency in using asset management software and tools to track and analyze asset performance data.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in asset management for water utilities.

    GIS Specialist

    Job Description

    • Collecting, organizing, and managing geospatial data related to the urban water supply system, including water sources, pipelines, reservoirs, and distribution networks.
    • Creating and maintaining accurate and up-to-date GIS databases and maps for the water supply infrastructure.
    • Conducting spatial analysis and modeling to support decision-making processes related to the planning, design, and management of the water supply system.
    • Collaborating with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate GIS data into project designs and workflows.
    • Developing and implementing GIS-based tools and applications to improve data visualization, analysis, and reporting.
    • Keeping up-to-date with advancements in GIS technology and industry trends to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of GIS applications in the water supply project.
    • Collaborating with other departments or agencies to exchange GIS data and ensure the development and implementing of GIS-based tools and applications to improve data visualization, analysis, and reporting.
    • Assisting in the development of geodatabases, data standards, and metadata documentation for the water supply project.
    • Conducting quality control checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry standards.

    Qualifications
    General Qualification:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Geoscience, or a related field with 10 years’ experience in the GIS including 5 years in Urban Water supply and services projects.
    • Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other relevant mapping and spatial analysis tools.
    • Strong knowledge of geospatial data management, including data collection, integration, analysis, and visualization.
    • Familiarity with water supply systems and infrastructure, including water distribution networks, pumping stations, and treatment plants.

    Hydrologist / Water Service Specialist

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a professional Hydrologist / Water Service Specialist to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
    • The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.

    Duties

    • Under the guidance of the Team lead and home office, work closely with the team and coordinate with the stakeholders including public water and with other departmental offices Provide technical support and assistance in the planning, development, and implementation of water quality monitoring, of LUWASH.
    • Conduct reconnaissance visits of all sites; Reporting of site visits.
    • Assist the team with the preliminary survey and fieldwork monitoring. Coordination and planning of daily activities for the national construction team at the site. 
    • Assess the source hydrology at the intake locations
    • Prepare the ‘Water Requirements and Availability’ annex at the source level, including a proposal for water distribution from the source to the users.
    • Assist the team in assessing long-term operation and maintenance requirements.  
    • Assist in preparing reports of water supply throughout the supply network
    • Contribute to asset maintenance management system implementation. 
    • Assist the WASH Service Delivery Lead and other team members where needed.
    • Contribute to reporting and compliances as required under the contract. 
    • Any other tasks assigned by the Sheladia home office/ client to ensure smooth project implementation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field with 10 years of experience in the Water sector including 5 years in Urban Water supply and services projects.
    • Prior experience on donor-funded projects such as USAID/UN/JICA is desirable.
    • Knowledge of local water/utility services rules and regulations is advantageous.

    • Assist the team lead and expat Safeguard Specialist and team in reviewing project documents including Safeguard documents.
    • Contribute to incorporating best Safeguard practices during the reconstruction/rehabilitation design/review process.
    • Monitor and guide the local staff and the contractors on Environmental and Social safeguard practices and requirements under the contract during the construction and operation period.
    • Provide on-ground training and organize meetings with the key stakeholders under the guidance of the team lead on issues related to Environmental and Safeguard compliances.
    • Contribute to monthly reports on Environmental and Social Safeguard compliances.
    • Any other task as directed by the CoP /management to meet the project requirements.

    Qualifications
    General Qualification:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a relevant field
    • 10 years of experience as an Environmental and Social Safeguard Specialist on related WASH projects including 3 years in Urban WASH projects.
    • Familiar with local laws and USAID guidelines related to Environmental and Social Safeguard compliances.
