    Finance Assistant – Nigeria Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement SCALE

    Purpose of Position:

    • The Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the financial administration and assisting in the implementation of programmatic activities of the SCALE Project office. This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria. The Finance Assistant will report to the accountant.


    Duration: 1 year, with possibility of extension for an additional 6 months.
    Location: Abuja, Nigeria.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Finance and Record Management

    • Finance and Record Management
    • Support DOA upload process for real time uploads and follow up for approval with COP.
    • Support filling process (electronic and hard copies).
    • Support in collection of documents and timely review of participants payment.
    • Support collection and timely review of staff retirements.
    • Support collection and tracking of partners payments to finance unit electronically.
    • Maintain a register for other documents submitted to the finance unit for review and payment processing.
    • Support stamping and scanning of finance documents for Bi-weekly field voucher reporting.
    • Assist the Accountant with reconciliation, journal entries, financial reporting and month-end closeout.

    Programmatic Support:

    • Assist in Budget review for TB concept.
    • Organize all the logistical and operational aspects of travels for the TB concept such as developing a logistics memo.
    • Assist with taking notes during staff meetings.
    • Other tasks as deemed necessary by the COP.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A minimum of one years of work experience in a similar role.
    • Prior experience working on USAID-funded projects is preferred.
    • A degree in Accounting, Social Sciences, or related field.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
    • Ability to communicate with high-level officials and vendors in a professional manner, both via written and verbal communication.
    • Strong analytical and computer skills; strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to maintain financial records and prepare financial reports.
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Fluency in English and a local language is required.
    • Must be authorized to work in Nigeria.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Communication Assistant – Nigeria SCALE

    Project Overview and Role:

    • The objective of the SCALE project is to support civil society organizations (CSOs) and business membership organizations (BMOs) across all of USAID/Nigeria’s programmatic sectors with a basket of managerial, business strengthening, and advocacy capacity-building interventions aimed at advancing Nigerian CSO sustainability combined with targeted grants to advance mutually agreed upon priorities. The activity is designed to enhance local civil society organizations’ ability to be positive and responsible change agents in Nigeria.
    • The SCALE project requires a highly motivated Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Communication (MEL-C) Assistant to join its Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Unit. The MEL-C assistant will support all communications, documentation, data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and learning program activities. In this capacity, they will undertake monitoring and evaluation tasks and contribute to maintaining the project’s monitoring and evaluation systems for gathering, reporting, and analyzing performance data for impact. They will perform general technical, administrative, and monitoring program tasks to support SCALE activities across the project’s intervention sectors, including Tuberculosis, Trafficking in Persons, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Health, Education, etc. The selected candidate will report to the project’s Knowledge Management Officer.

    Duration: 1 year, with possibility of extension for an additional 6 months.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Contributes to monitoring the Activity Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Plan (AMELP) to systematically document performance for technical team to ensure implementation is on track.
    • With oversight of the Knowledge Management Officer, develops tailored content and ensures consistent visibility of the project through the management of the project’s social media platforms of the communication strategy.
    • Facilitates media and social media administrative processes.
    • Supports monitoring and tracking of project activities against the results framework.
    • Conducts virtual assessments with partners as necessary for data validation to monitor the quality and completeness of data sets.
    • Works closely with the Project Advisors to support SCALE partners with implementing project interventions.
    • Works closely with the project partners to build their MEL and communications capacity.
    • Manages the physical and virtual filing system for project documents and attendance sheets.
    • Supports the development of reports, communications materials, and engagement activities, documenting events and activities.
    • Supports the production of infographics and communication materials for dissemination.
    • Develops communications campaigns to highlight thematic topic areas as necessary and helps develop and implement engagement strategies.
    • Organizes and backstops webinars and other learning events.
    • Provides secretarial, administrative, and logistical support for meetings and other project events.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A degree in demography, statistics, social sciences, journalism, knowledge management, public policy communications or related field.
    • Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning and/or communications and knowledge management tasks for development projects.
    • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required, basic knowledge in statistical software and graphic design software a plus with room for improvement.
    • Strong organizational skills and oral/written communication skills in English.
    • Experience with USAID-funded governance programs highly desired.
    • Must be authorized to work in Nigeria.
