    Housing Clerk

    Duties

    Under the supervision of the Realty Specialist/Supervisory Housing Assistant, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining Housing files for over 170 properties, preparing floor plans and other complex documentation for the files, preparing landlord and other correspondences: monitoring, updating, and tracking of all housing related databases and spreadsheets. Incumbent will attend Housing and Make ready meetings and prepare minutes of those meetings. Reports to the Supervisory Housing Assistant and receives additional supervision from the GSO for Housing.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years prior work experience in Administrative or clerical duties is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    Knowledge of office administration, electronic filing system and basic knowledge of customer service is required. Knowledge of Nigerian Government Agencies responsible for documentation and issues relating to Real Property is required. Knowledge of Nigerian Real Estate Laws and Property Values is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Two (2) years of university education is required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    • The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have the ability to work with others and be able to respond with courtesy in handling stressful situations.
    • Must be able to effectively plan meetings and be able to prioritize work and be flexible when dealing with urgent/non-standard situations.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) and good keyboarding skills with emphasis on accuracy is required.

    Maintenance Mechanic (Plumber)

    Duties

    The incumbent reports to the Building Engineer Supervisor.  The incumbent is employed as a journeyman level Maintenance Mechanic - Plumber to carry out skilled maintenance and repair work on the critical and non-critical mechanical and plumbing systems throughout the New Embassy Compound (NEC), functional/office buildings, on-compound ancillary support and residential buildings, above and below ground infrastructures, recreational facilities, and other owned/leased properties. 

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  

    • A minimum of three (3) years experience working as a journey-level plumber in the repair and maintenance of plumbing/mechanical systems in commercial or industrial facilities is required.  Experience working with PVC, CPVC, copper, galvanized, concrete, and black pipe, circulation and well pumps, and water treatment equipment is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:  

    The incumbent is required to have a thorough, technical understanding of major building plumbing/mechanical systems and equipment, with a specialty in plumbing systems.  Familiarization with general mechanical systems, including domestic hot and cold-water piping systems, wastewater piping systems and vent stacks, storm water management systems, chilled water systems, water treatment facilities, swimming pool equipment, fire suppression systems, compressed air systems, and irrigation systems is required. 

    Familiarization with the many different types of pipe and fittings (PVC and CPVC, copper, galvanized, concrete, black, etc.) is required.  Must know how to diagnose the root cause of a problem and what materials and equipment will be needed to facilitate repairs.  Must know how to work safely on equipment, systems, and associated components including the use of lock-out / tag-out safety measure.  Knowledge of IBC standards, and fire and life safety codes are required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of secondary school and vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level plumbers and mechanical system specialists trained in the maintenance of commercial or industrial buildings/facilities is required. 
    • Training through a recognized apprenticeship program provided by a trade union is considered acceptable
