    Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer

    Duties and Responsibility

    Functions / Day to day activities:

    • Develop and implement advocacy strategies: Lead the development and execution of advocacy plans aimed at influencing policies, practices, and attitudes.
    • Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and international organizations to advance project objectives.
    • Capacity-building initiatives: Design and facilitate capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and other learning interventions to enhance the skills and knowledge of stakeholders.
    • Resource mobilization: Support efforts to mobilize resources
    • Communications and outreach: Develop communication materials, including reports, briefs, and presentations, to communicate key advocacy messages and engage with target audiences effectively.
    • Policy advocacy: Advocate for policy review where necessary
    • Monitoring and evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy initiatives and capacity-building activities to assess their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Networking and collaboration: Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups to network with peers, share best practices, and foster collaboration on advocacy and capacity-building efforts.
    • Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of advocacy activities, capacity-building interventions, and outcomes achieved. Prepare regular reports of activities

    • Fluent in Hausa, Kanuri and local languages within the LGAs of implementation.
    • The position will be based at the head office with frequent travel to field locations.

    Protection Team Lead

    Duties and Responsibility

    Functions / Day to day activities:

    • Team Management: Lead and supervise the protection team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the effective implementation of protection activities and the achievement of project objectives.
    • Program Planning and Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor the protection implementation in line with international standards and best practices, addressing the specific needs and vulnerabilities of target populations.
    • Case Management: Oversee the provision of case management services to identified persons, following  compliance with  best standard and project requirement  and also ensure  access to appropriate support and referrals where necessary
    • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain effective relationships with communities, local authorities, and other stakeholders to promote community participation, empowerment, and community ownership of protection initiatives.
    • Capacity Building: Identify training needs and develop capacity-building initiatives for staff, partners, and community members and stakeholders.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the implementation of protection activities, collect and analyze data on program indicators, and prepare regular reports to track progress, identify challenges, and document lessons learned.
    • Coordination and Collaboration: Coordinate closely with other sectors and organizations to ensure a holistic approach to protection programming
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of protection services and interventions, adhering to humanitarian principles, codes of conduct, and organizational policies and procedures.

    • Master’s degree in social science, with at least 3 years’ experience in GBV case management, PSS, Child protection and Mine action.  Proficient in Microsoft office suites and google workspace.
    • Fluent in Hausa, Kanuri and local languages within the LGAs of implementation.

    Grants / Partnership Technical Senior Officer

    Performance measures:

    The performance of the grants and partnership Technical Senior officer will be measured using the following:

    • Track the number of grants secured within a specific period.
    •  Calculate the percentage of successfully acquired grants out of the total applications submitted,
    • Measure the total monetary value of grants secured during a designated timeframe.
    • Assess the positions ability to secure grants from various sources, including government agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
    • Quantify the Officer’s success in initiating new partnerships aligned with FRAD’s goals.
    • Measure the ability to maintain and strengthen relationships with current partners.
    • Evaluate the overall quality of grant proposals in terms of sustainability, clarity, alignment with organizational goals, and adherence to donor guidelines.
    • Assess the accuracy of proposed budgets compared to actual expenditures.
    •  Evaluate the Officer’s ability to optimize resources within the proposed budget.
    • Evaluate how promptly the Officer submits required reports to funding partners.
    • Assess the effectiveness of impact reports in showcasing the outcomes and success of funded projects.
    • Monitor attendance and participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and networking events.
    • Track the number of new contacts made at events and the subsequent development of these connections.
    • Manage sub grantees of FRAD and provide technical support to FRAD’s partners

    Functions / Day to day activities:

    The day-to-day activity of the grants and partnership Senior Technical officer for FRAD Foundation are as follows:

    Grants Proposal Development:

    • Research potential funding opportunities from Donor agencies, foundations, and other available sources.
    • Develop strong grant proposals, and ensure alignment with FRAD’s goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with the program manager and other stakeholders to gather relevant proposal information.
    • Participate in work and activity planning to align the grant programming with overall project activities.
    • Add to the development of timeline and details required for any activities needing grants; conduct market search and price analysis in coordination with technical and procurement staff. 
    • Coordinates with staff requesting grants to prepare Request for Concepts and other expression of interest.
    • Assist in the process and development of calls for proposals, participate, take meeting notes, and manage records in subsequent review processes, co-design, kick-offs, and collaborative strategy meetings
    • Manage sub grantee of partners to ensure compliance to donor regulations and processes.
    • Administered organization capacity assessment (OCA) to partners and develop organization capacity development plan.
    • Track partners spending and also initiate process of funds request with partners for timely disbursement of funds.

    Relationship Building:

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential funding partners, including donors, foundations, and corporations and sub-grantees.
    • Network within the philanthropic community to identify new funding prospects.
    • Attend events and conferences to establish connections and promote the organization’s work.
    • Promote FRAD’s initiatives to potential partners with similar interest as FRAD Foundation.

    Grants Management:

    • Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from application to reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.
    • Work closely with finance and program teams to track budget allocations and expenditures related to grants

    Partnership Development:

    • Identify and initiate partnerships with other organizations, NGOs, and businesses that align with FRAD’s mission and vision.
    • Negotiate terms of partnership agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective implementation of partnership activities.
    • Work with the Program manager and Executive Director to gain and advocate for more partnerships.

    Proposal Budgeting:

    • Collaborate with finance teams to develop accurate and realistic budgets for grant proposals.
    • Ensure that proposed budgets align with the organization’s financial policies and guidelines.
    • Manage partner’s budget and track spending of partners to ensure it is according to the Budget approved.

    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • Support gathering feedback from recipients for monitoring, evaluation, and learning purposes.
    • Conduct necessary data collection and provide required information and data to the monitoring and evaluation department in the required format.
    • When necessary, perform site visits to monitor Performance.
    • When needed conduct financial and programmatic audits during implementation. 

    Communication and Advocacy:

    • Develop communication materials highlighting the impact of grants and partnerships for the FRAD Foundation.
    • Advocate for FRAD’s work through various channels, including social media, conferences, and publications.

    Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Stay informed about changes in regulations and compliance requirements related to grants.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with grants and partnerships.

    Database Management:

    • Maintain an updated database of funding opportunities, partners, and relevant contacts.
    • Track and report on the success rate of grant applications and partnership development efforts.

    Capacity Building:

    • Provide training and support to internal teams on best practices for grant management and partnership development.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and share knowledge within the organization

    Any other task assigned by the management.

    Requirement:

    • Prior experience with internationally funded projects is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating budgets, reviewing financial reports, preparing for and monitoring audits, and file management.
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. is required.
    • Ability to work under pressure and efficiently handle multiple tasks.
    • PSEA and Safeguarding certificate
    • Ability to work under own initiative or as a part of a team.
    • Experience working in a conflict environment is a plus.
    • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
    • Fluency in Hausa and one of the languages spoken in North-East Nigeria is preferable.

    Experience:

    • Three (3) years of experience in grants management is required. A minimum of four (4) years of general working experience is required.

    Qualification:

    • A University Degree in Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Management, or a related field is required.
