    Vice-Chancellor

    The position

    • The Vice-Chancellor is the Principal Academic and Chief Executive Officer of the University and the statutorily Chairman of the University Senate and Member of the Governing Council.
    • He or she shall exercise general supervision over the University and shall have general responsibility to the Council for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University.
    • It shall also be the duty of the Vice-Chancellor to see that the provisions of the law and statute, ordinances and regulations of the University are observed, and he or she may exercise such powers as may be necessary or expedient for that purpose.

    Requirements

    • The candidate for the position of Vice-Chancellor is required to possess a good University education and should be a proven successful manager of human and material resources with clear qualities of academic leadership.
    • It is pertinent to note that Elizade University, as a professionally well-managed institution, requires a Vice-Chancellor who is not just a Professor having come up the rank of academia through scholarship but can also operate as a professional manager of human and material resources.
    • Thus, in addition to having academic credibility, he or she should be a strategic thinker, have a reputation for integrity, be a good communicator, and be able to manage crises effectively.

    Specifically, the candidate shall have the following attributes:

    • Be 50 years old and above, but not older than 65 years by January, 2024:
    • Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of Professor of not less than ten (10) years' experience on that rank, with ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University community.
    • Must be proficient in ICT:
    • Must have evidence of fund or research grant attracted; v. Be able to command the respect of the national and in- ternational academic communities through his track records;
    • Possess a clear vision for the development of the Univer- sity and realization of its mission;
    • Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to strengthen the bridges between staff, students, other members of the University community and the University's stakeholders:
    • Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract much needed funds and mobilize other resources for the devel- opment of the University.
    • Be able to drive linkages, interact with the business world and be innovative
    • Be able to key into and drive the University's Vision and Mission;
    • Be able to actualize the University Teaching and Learning Philosophy.
    • Enjoy excellent physical and mental health; and
    • Have demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local and international governmental and non-governmental agencies.

    Terms and Conditions of Service
    The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five (5) years and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.

    Remuneration
    The remuneration and other conditions of service will be determined by the Governing Council and the Board of Trustees of the University, as appropriate.

    Method of Application

    Interested and qualified candidates should submit twenty (20) copies each of their Applications, Curriculum Vitae (duly signed and dated) & candidate's Statement of vision (not more than 1,000 words) for driving the University in the next five years as a 21st century institution. The Curriculum Vitae must contain the following details:

    • Candidate's name in full
    • Address
    • Age
    • Marital status
    • Institutions attended and academic qualifications obtained (with dates)
    • Nationality
    • Membership of academic and professional bodies (with dates)
    • Professional and academic achievements (including scholarly publications); and
    • Details of administrative, fund attraction and managerial experience in the University system.
    • Names and addresses of three (3) Referees who should be able to report on the candidate's character, academic and managerial competences.

    All Applications or Nominations shall be submitted under confidential cover in sealed envelope (s) marked "Post of Vice-Chancellor" at the top left-hand corner and addressed to:

    Note

    • Each Referee must be contacted by the applicant to forward directly to the Registrar, a confidential report on the candidate's character, academic and managerial competences in a properly sealed envelope marked "Post of Vice-Chancellor: Referee's Report" at the top left-hand corner
    • In the case of candidates identified by the Search Team. the application shall conform with the requirements above, and in addition, the candidate shall present a letter of consent duly signed by him/her along with the application.
