Senior Field Telecoms Engineer at Ocheph Consulting Limited

Responsiblities

• Through strong competence in GEO satellite systems, provide technical support for the maintenance and effective running of VSAT service for SHELL, while ensuring availability of same service at the highest level in line with the SLA.
• Through competences in LEO (and MEO) satellite systems, support the SHELL Field Telecoms team with operations and maintenance of such systems.
• Supervise installation, operation and maintenance of rig communication systems across specified Wells locations (land and swamp) - liaising with the service vendor on all deployment and O&M activities
• Liaise with the Wells Team to provide all necessary logistics for the vendor personnel who will visit the rigs for systems installations. The person will oversee system integration and ensure each rig is well serviced with communication requirements.
• Be responsible for all safety requirements for Telecoms crew working at the rig. The person must ensure all works are done safely. No injury or harm to personnel, equipment and environment is key.
• Support team with initiating and following up on the SEPRA and MRA process for PO and SE issuances to the various vendors wrt VSAT and Redline services.
• Provide regular updates on rig comms issues to the Field Telecoms / Telecoms team leadership.
• Provide regular or unscheduled reports as may be requested.
• Visit field locations / installation sites, swamp and land as may be required.
• Track and close out incident tickets for the Field Telecom Team
• Supervision of the vendor personnel involved in maintenance activities.
• Ensure that preventive maintenance schedule is adhered to for Radio systems / hub across all specified locations as applicable keeping track of trends.
• Ensure that all telecom equipment in the specified locations is kept in good condition.

Requirements

• The Candidate is expected to have a degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecoms Engineering or its equivalent.
• Possession of a master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering is appropriately required if first degree is in Applied Sciences. In addition to the basic qualification, a Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCNA, will be an advantage.
• The candidate must have at least 10 years post NYSC practical experience as a Telecoms Engineer (over 50% of which is as VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal Satellite) Engineer, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
• General experience required for microwave & mobile radio systems and cable systems.
• Enterprise Network (LAN/WAN), Cisco router configurations, and Wi-Fi AP installation and support.
