    Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor - Employment and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management

    Description 

    • We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished individual to join our faculty as a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor of Employment and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management in our esteemed Business School (JHBS).
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting innovative research, delivering high-quality teaching, and contributing to the academic and intellectual life of the institution.

    Responsibilities

    • The Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Employment and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research efforts of the School, within the University, and with the community, professional and commercial sectors. More specifically, the Professor/Associate Professor is responsible for providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the Department’s programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to the discipline at a national and international level.
    • As the Professor in Employment and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management, you will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the Department and University’s research focus areas. This includes engagement with the relevant industry stakeholders, attracting competitive grants, publications in high impact journals and effective supervision of postgraduate research students and postdoctoral research staff.
    • As a Professor in James Hope Business School, you may be appointed as Deputy Dean for a specific discipline or to provide strategic leadership for learning and teaching or research and scholarship. The teaching areas of priorities include, but are not limited to,
    • Labour Law and Policy: This covers areas such as, but not limited to: labour laws, regulations, and policies that govern employer-employee relationships, employment law, collective bargaining, arbitration, and dispute resolution. Responsibilities also include staying updated on legal developments, conducting research, and advising students on legal aspects of HRM and industrial relations.
    • Employee Relations/Diversity and Inclusion: With specialization in managing relationships between employees and employers within organizations, conflict resolution, negotiation strategies, employee engagement, and performance management, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. May also be required to teach courses on diversity management, cultural competence, inclusive leadership, and bias reduction. Responsibilities include researching best practices, developing inclusive curriculum, and advising students on effectively managing employee relations and creating diverse and inclusive work environments. They also conduct research on diversity and inclusion in the work environments.
    • Compensation and Benefits: This covers areas such as compensation and benefits systems, salary structures, incentive programs, employee benefits, and pay equity. Responsibilities may also include conducting research, analysing compensation trends, and advising students on designing fair and competitive compensation packages.

    Qualifications

    • A Ph.D. in Employment Relations, Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution.
    • Demonstrated expertise in employment relations, human resources management, and related areas, evidenced by a strong record of scholarly publications and presentations.
    • Proven excellence in teaching at the graduate level, with a commitment to student-centred learning and innovative pedagogical approaches.
    • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and theories to diverse audiences, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
    • Dedication to advancing knowledge and best practices in employment relations and human resources management through research, teaching, and service.
    • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, based on qualifications and experience.
