    Job Description

    • Reuters is looking for a dynamic and talented Visuals Producer to join our busy operation in Nigeria. You will help deliver breaking and planned news coverage to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world.
    • You will be part of a multimedia team and work closely with video, text and still photo counterparts in Nigeria.
    • You will have outstanding news judgement and will be confident handling breaking news as well as pitching stories that go beyond the headlines.
    • You will also be able to shoot video and photos, edit and write to very tight deadlines.
    • This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends and will report to the Chief Producer Visuals, Africa.

    Responsibilities
    As our trusted Visuals Producer, you will:

    • Have a keen eye for visual storytelling and the ability to shoot and edit footage within tight deadlines.
    • React quickly to breaking news offering live cover as appropriate.
    • Produce tight, well-written accurate news copy to deadline.
    • Pitch story ideas which also translate well for digital and broadcast platforms
    • Work as part of a multimedia team that covers events, starting from the planning phase through to field work.
    • Proactively source user-generated content and other 3rd party material, especially for breaking news
    • Have the confidence and sharp decision-making skills needed to deputise occasionally for the Senior Producer
    • Coordinate between Visuals and Text teams
    • Help create and maintain planning entries.
    • Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias.

    Requirements
    To be our Visuals Producer, you will likely have:

    • Solid editorial experience in either a broadcast, agency or digital newsroom
    • Excellent news judgment, with a clear vision of what makes a compelling visual story.
    • Advanced camera and video editing and script writing skills
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at short notice, including to hostile environments.
    • Thorough understanding of the latest digital video technologies for filming, editing, transmitting, and sharing video.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships quickly
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
    • Ability to drive speed and accuracy.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills.
    • Excellent English - written and oral.
