    Principal

      Job Summary

    Responsible for leadership of the school campus, ensuring high standards of learning and student achievement, compliance with state policies, and effective operation of all school activities.   

      Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Responsible for developing school policies, regulations, and procedures that meet the approved curricula, regulatory requirement, and mission of the school board 
    • Ensure school compliance with all laws, board policies, civil regulations, and policies of the state and the community. 
    • Establish and maintain channels for communication and interaction between administration, staff, students, and parents. 
    • Provide monthly updates to the board and school owner on all education programs, financial data, and employee, and student issues. 
    • Provides leadership and support, coordinates, articulates, evaluates, and supervises curriculum and instructional programs for the school.
    • Supervises, and evaluates the performance of direct reports, and coordinates, supports, and reviews the evaluation of all school staff. 
    • Establish clear expectations for staff/teacher performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public. 
    • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
    • Direct planning activities and implementing programs to ensure the attainment of the school's mission. Work with staff faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate. 
    • Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.  
    • Oversee the development and administration of school budgets based on documented program needs and estimated enrollment ensuring that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. 
    • Observe staff and school performance, record observations, and conduct performance evaluation meetings with staff.
    • Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals. 
    • Work with all Heads of Departments and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities for staff and students 
    • Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of all staff assigned to school campus including vice principal(s), teachers, counselor(s), librarian(s), and clerical support staff.
    • Act as the primary contact between the school and external stakeholders, serves as a liaison with the regional and local school community. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the board or school owner .

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education 
    • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in teaching, seven years of classroom teaching experience and three years in an educational leadership position 
    • Possession of a Master's degree or professional qualification is preferred

    • Knowledge of laws governing education services for private schools 
    • Knowledge of budget preparation and control principles
