    Operations Manager

    Salary: N400,000 net

    Overview

    We are looking to hire an Operations Manager for our client in the hospitality industry. The Manager will oversee the restaurant management team in creating the right framework for operational excellence, brand management and ensuring that customers have a pleasant experience that live up to the organization’s set standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise all restaurant activities to ensure compliance to all company operations standards
    • Supervise the job functions of all restaurant and kitchen staff.
    • Identify emerging markets and market shifts and being fully aware of new products and competition status.
    • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
    • Conduct market research and identify new opportunities.
    • Achieve growth by hitting sales targets.
    • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
    • Design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands the organization’s customer base.
    • Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
    • Work with the Finance and Control team to prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyse variances and initiate corrective actions.
    • Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly, and annual revenues.
    • Ability to run campaigns and promotions to improve footfall.
    • Develop and implement procedural and operational expansion of company ambitions.
    • Manage events and promote the restaurant in the media etc.
    • Develop the restaurant’s operations systems.
    • Determine product handling and storage requirements.
    • Develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures.
    • Develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping.
    • Manage the restaurant’s stock control.
    • Check that the inventory records are accurate.
    • Ensure optimal level of sanitary procedures for all food handling.
    • Ensure neat and clean kitchen area to ensure optimal quality of all food preparation.
    • Support and evaluate performance of all service staff.
    • Schedule and evaluate all restaurant operations and provide training to all employees.
    • Ensure that all staff work according to required policies and procedures.
    • Maintain and update knowledge of all food and beverage trends.
    • Schedule and manage all shifts for restaurant operations.
    • Assist to resolve all complaints and always maintain food quality.
    • Perform regular interviews with all employees.
    • Coordinate all activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements.
    • Communicate with all restaurant staff to ensure delivery times are met.
    • Plan, schedule and review workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met on a cost-effective basis.
    • Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it.
    • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
    • Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events.
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

    Skills

    • Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge
    • Familiarity with restaurant management software, like OpenTable and Peach-Works
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong project and financial management skills
    • Good budgeting and budgetary control skills
    • Knowledge of strategic planning for process improvement, growth, and expansion
    • Ability to describe food features in simple or technical terms based on clients’ existing knowledge.
    • Exceptional listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
    • Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels.
    • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability
    • Confident, assertive, and honest approach in responding to clients’ questions.
    • Good problem-solving abilities
    • Attuned to subtleties in human interactions.

    Educational & Experience

    • B.Sc. in Business Administration, Hospitality management or related field
    • Culinary schooling is an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years’ work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager, or similar role.
    • Ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
    • Ability to determine department needs based on inventory levels and business volume.
    • Enthusiastic, results-oriented with excellent social skills
    • Ability to motivate and lead people and hold employees accountable.
    • Act in accordance with values, principles and standard
    • Must have a forward-thinking attitude.
    • Must be professional in attitude and appearance.
    • Must possess good judgement.
    • Possess a strong emotional intelligence.
