    Information Management Officer (Nutrition)

    The IMO provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the nutrition programmes/projects Maiduguri Field Office, from development, planning, and delivery of results. In doing so, the incumbent implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results.

    Information Management:

    • Planning: Work with state operational arms to have a well-prioritized plan of information management activities and contribute to UNICEF planning processes.
    • Data collection and analysis: Compile, clean and analyse nutrition data including Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Vitamin A supplementation, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practice, Micronutrients supplementation and Visualize nutrition data and create information products (briefs, maps, graphs, PowerPoints etc).
    • Reporting: Support complete, quality, and timely reporting of nutrition programs based on partnership agreements and agreed monitoring frameworks.
    • Provide support in development of proposals, donor reports and reviewing documents, and adopting standardized approaches and tools for nutrition programming.
    • Data storage: Maintain information databases and general project information management tools, such as 5W matrix, Gap Matrix on UNICEF and sector online systems.
    • Coordination: Co-chair the Nutrition Sector’s AIM TWG and represent UNICEF in information management and survey related meeting and workshop and put UNICEF stands clearly for nutrition programming in northeast Nigeria.
    • Information dissemination: Disseminate Nutrition Sector information and information products through appropriate channels (including HR.info website), gather feedback on IM products and use it to make improvements.
    • Design and implement an information management capacity assessment and capacity development plan for Sector partners in collaboration with AIM TWG.

    Situation Monitoring and Assessment:

    • Takes lead in compiling data to inform and prepare the SitRep inputs with emphasis on nutrition section and sector plans, targets, and achievements.
    • Ensures that all sector partners have timely and accurate information of change in conditions of children, women, and their families and facilitates information exchange to support planning and measurement of program impact.
    • Preparation of survey reports and newsletters and share findings with partners for improved action in nutrition.
    • Prepare briefs and presentations as and when needed for decision making and prioritization of nutrition interventions
    • Contribute to preparation of regular and mandated sectoral programme/project reports for management, donors and partners to keep them informed of programme progress.
    • Contributes to the preparation of donor proposals and donor reports, and other briefing notes as required by the program and sector.
    • Contribute to the review of Nutrition and Food security Surveillance System (NFSS) indicators and support report validation and IPC/AMN analysis and report writing

    Support to programme development, planning and monitoring:

    • Conduct regularly update and situation analysis for the program, partner presence mapping and share with implementing agencies in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states the collated overall, and state specific nutrition statistics against agreed performance indicators in all information exchange channels, for higher management use to enhance programme management, efficiency and delivery of results.
    • Conduct field visits to programs in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states to monitor the quality of data collection and reporting; also provides supportive supervision as and when needed.
    • Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing and administering a variety of technical programme transactions; preparing materials and documentations, and complying with organizational processes and management systems, to support programme planning, results-based planning (RBM), and monitoring and evaluation of results.
    • Prepare required documentations and materials to facilitate the programme review meetings
    • Develop periodic dashboard and evidence for advocacy for nutrition programming

    Coordination and representation

    • As a member of the Nutrition Sector Coordination Team, contribute to the effective roll out and monitoring of the core Sector functions and to the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HNO, HRP, FTS and CCPM).
    • Represent the Sector information management function at all levels and coordinate with others within the function to ensure effective communication, reporting and engagement.
    • Actively engage with other IMOs through relevant IMWGs, including representing the Sector on the inter-sector IMWG

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

    Education:

    • University degree in nutrition, public health, epidemiology, statistics or computer science or a related field with a nutrition focus.  

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in public health, nutrition, knowledge /data management or related field in the country, experience of working in a humanitarian context will be an asset. Experience of nutrition data collection, with extensive experience, compiling and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and producing relevant graphical presentations of analysed data is mandatory. Proven experience in synthesizing relevant nutrition related information and developing reports on time against set deadlines for the dissemination of key findings to technical and non-technical audiences is required.
