    Director, Research and Advocacy

    Job Summary

    • Provide strategic and operational oversight of the organisation’s Research and advocacy programmes, events and publications for the purpose of promoting the mandate of the organisation
    • Manage and supervise the company’s advocacy programmes, communications, public relation activities, and any other related activities that enhance or increase the growth of membership in the organisation.
    • Manage collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in government, and industry and leverage these relationships in executing the organisation’s advocacy strategies. Be the face of organisation as necessary in advocacy initiatives.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop The Organisation’s Research and advocacy strategy and derive implementation plans to achieve them
    • Build and maintain relationships with government, leaders of organizations and decision-makers that will facilitate the advocacy mandate within the Institute
    • Identify and monitor pending legislative initiatives, government policies and practices and advocacy issues falling under the scope of the interest of the organisation
    • Identify and develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in government and industry, and leverage these relationships in executing The Organisation’s advocacy strategies.
    • Oversee the planning and delivery of all advocacy programmes and events
    • Develop a range of approaches for communicating the organisation’s advocacy outcomes to internal and external audiences through written materials: reports, blog posts, website content and other web-based materials; also, through events: trainings, webinars, workshops; and presentations.
    • Oversee the research team to determine research needs and conduct research on relevant topical issues bothering on corporate governance, ethics, leadership and the economy etc. to fuel advocacy programs.
    • Ensure that periodic reports, articles, and concept papers based on research are produced by the research team and oversee their translation into advocacy programmes.
    • Develop concepts and proposals to attract donor funded projects
    • Collaborate with the Corporate Affairs and Programs, and Membership and Branch Development teams on events that support recruitment of new members.
    • Oversee the preparation and release of The Organisation’s corporate communications and publications (e.g., Director Magazine, etc.)
    • Regularly supervises the development of various quality content types such as speeches, articles, concept papers, presentations, proposals etc. for the Institute and its principal officers.
    • Oversee the development and monitoring of the overall department and trouble-shoot issues where necessary
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Director General/CEO

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or any other related field.
    • A post- graduate degree in any related field will be an added advantage.
    • Member of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPM, NIM
    • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a director role and 8 years in a managerial position
    • Experience in a similar organisation will be an added advantage
