    Dean of Studies

    Role Summary

    • Genius Business School, a leading provider of professional education and training in Nigeria is seeking to hire a highly motivated and experienced individual that is passionate about education to join her team as Dean of Studies.
    • The Dean of Studies will provide strategic leadership to ensure that the school’s academic objectives are achieved.
    • He/she will develop the school’s academic reputation and provide an outstanding experience for students.

    Responsibilities:

    Curriculum Development and Oversight:

    • Lead the development, evaluation, and revision of academic programs and courses in alignment with institutional goals, industry trends, and accreditation standards.
    • Collaborate with faculty to design innovative and relevant curricula that promote student engagement and achievement.
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of existing courses and programs, making recommendations for improvements and updates.

    Faculty Support and Development:

    • Provide guidance and support to faculty members in instructional design, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies.
    • Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their teaching skills and stay current in their respective fields.
    • Encourage and foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

    Student Success and Academic Advising:

    • Oversee academic advising services to ensure students receive timely and accurate guidance in course selection, degree planning, and career pathways.
    • Implement strategies to promote student retention, progression, and academic achievement.
    • Collaborate with student support services to address academic challenges and provide appropriate interventions.

    Program Assessment and Accreditation:

    • Manage the process of program review and assessment to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional goals.
    • Prepare documentation and reports for accreditation agencies and participate in accreditation visits and reviews.

    Collaboration and Communication:

    • Foster strong partnerships and open communication with department chairs, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to promote a cohesive academic environment.
    • Participate in academic leadership meetings and contribute to institutional planning and policy development.

    Innovation and Educational Technology:

    • Stay current with advancements in educational technology and pedagogical practices, and promote their integration into the curriculum.
    • Explore opportunities for online and blended learning initiatives to expand educational reach and accessibility.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills allowing for effective interaction with students, staff and administration.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with department heads, faculty, and staff, as well as with colleagues across the campus community.
    • Ability to make decisions that benefit the school and work towards goals, strategies, and policies.
    • Strong critical thinking skills in order to read and analyze reports, dis-aggregate data and write reports and memorandums
    • Ability to prepare and make effective presentations promoting programs within the school
    • Professional experience overseeing committees and board meetings as required by the school board
    • Ability to analyze data regarding the effectiveness of programs and initiatives within the school
    • An innovative and entrepreneurial mind-set to ensure growth in income.
    • A strong track record of obtaining funding from business or key stakeholders.
    • Strong leadership behaviors that encourage staff engagement and motivation.
    • Evidence of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships/ partnerships between education and practice providers
    • Professional experience overseeing committees and board meetings as required by the school board
    • Ability to drive continuous improvement
    • Experience investigating complaints and grievances against Faculty, staff and students

    Academic Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), PhD or other relevant degree would be an added advantage
    • Membership of relevant professional associations/institutes.

    Cognate Experience:

    • A minimum of 7-10 years’ post-graduation work experience in Education, specifically, at managerial level.
